North Dakota is absolutely elite.  South Dakota much less so, but in 2040 that will be the closest analogue to present day Kansas.  Plus you got the Black Hills!

You’re probably not going to my kind of oregon, but I’ll be there on labor day weekend if it’s not clear that smoke will wreck it. Even with a short drive and less commitment, still stuck with 48-hour hotel cancellation that usually isn’t enough to know if it’ll be dune or not.
