how can you say that leow's is better than hyatt? hyatt is bitb
Loews is eLiTe. Hyatt better for points people obv.

I have been a Marriott platinum member for over a decade in a row now...I travel most every week.  Before Marriott I was Hilton Diamond for 5 years. I have never once contemplated staying at a Loews, and never ever even heard it mentioned in a corporate setting by anyone ever.  I also go to probably 2 - 3 larger conferences a year, and have never ever heard Loews mentioned.
Hence eLiTe

Mocat, where have you been?  That rendering was scrapped over a year ago.  but, agreed, the new hotel looks like an office building in Corporate Woods.

what's your opinion on the next steps

The City Council circumvented the referendum effort by fixing the ordinance at issue - effectively immunizing the project from further litigation.  Admittedly, I've not wasted my time studying this issue too closely.  Maybe this will be tied up in litigation for another 2 years.  But, from everything I've read, the Loews group is ponying up sufficient private equity to make the project work.  KCMO is providing $35 million from the convention and visitor's tax fund - no $$ from the general fund.  Looks like everything's greenlighted.  Shovels are expected to be in the ground by October with completion anticipated in 2019-2020.  Wish the design were better, but the shortening of the structure was assuredly a cost-cutting measure.

agreed- design is second, breaking ground is first.  wondering how the whole KCMO land giving thing is going to work out on that corner.

the ridekc app is not that great EXCEPT the amaze thing where you can buy mobile bus fares with your phone and just show the bus driver the pass on your screen as you enter. so fast and easy. you used to have to wait several days for a physical pass to show up at your house.

it is completely clunky and dogshit at tracking buses though. i use kcata bus tracker app for that. you can save your favorite stops so you can quickly see when the next few buses are coming in real time. it's a 3rd party app so idk the black magic behind how they know where each bus is tho

I use itsab.us site or transit app for tracking. RideKC exposes the bus location data to whomever wants to consume it.

1. Ambassador Hotel expansion - http://maps.kcmo.org/kcgis/rest/services/external/DataLayers/FeatureServer/35/53284/attachments/17300

Holy Toledo - this building design is f'n deplorable.  It's good to fill in a surface lot and density to the CBD, but JFC this development plan is ugly.

2. Gordon Biersch P&L is closing in August and being replaced by Joe's KC.  I've heard.

Just made the unfortunate decision to hit up the Wal Mart in Argentine. Lololololololol. Never again. I turned around and headed to the Walgreens on Broadway and witnessed a lady losing her mind After she wasn't allowed to cut in line for some cigarettes.

Fun times.

back-in parking coming to Oak in August. Hopefully this cuts down on car-into-building issues on that block.
