Well Greg if you haven't ridden the streetcar or used the airport you probably don't have anything to contribute to this thread
I have been to the airport three times

it'd be hard for these businesses who aren't paying taxes to not see positive growth but GO STREETCAR!!

Sales taxes are higher along the streetcar clams. Member that was going to be a huge deterrent for businesses

Everyone - I was born and raised in KC. If you guys have ANY questions about KC there is a good chance I'm your man.

TIF

TIF doesn't impact revenue increasing from more customers.

ordinarily i'd ask if you need me slow things down for you but i realize you're truly incapable of understanding how a business who was afforded TIF financing and not paying tax revenue would benefit over one who wasn't or how any of that correlates to the businesses who responded to this survey and that are located along the streetcar line

Business along streetcar line don't equate to businesses who benefited from TIF but accuracy hasn't been your strong suit in these discussions so you keep on keeping on the misinformation train.

Hey kcfdcat...Come tell us about your TIF windfalls. Rieger...Come on down....Michaels clothier....Affare....Minsky's....Step right up, tell us how great TIF has been for you.

Guess no lunch as you mushed me on that request.  :Crybaby:

every business surveyed that has reported growth should attribute it to the streetcar

Applejack, first off how are you today?

Second. How weird is it that like 1/3 of the west bottoms is in Kansas? Like i get that they set the state line a long time ago where the rivers met but sheesh.

Definitely not a foolproof correlation but 80% of businesses seeing revenue increases is encouraging.

In case anyone was curious, I own a business in the streetcar TDD. We pay a higher sales tax. We used to have tax inclusive sales, but switched to the more typically american way of tax exclusive. Not necessarily because of the TDD, just having that extra $3,500/mo is a big help.

We also pay higher property tax than other parts of the city. We do lease our building, but tax increases are passed on to us.

I have never gotten a tax break from the city, county, state, or fed. I'm happy to pay the taxes I owe, especially since some goes to something I support, the streetcar.

I love the crossroads, I do think the streetcar increases traffic for our neighborhood, and I support the expansion of it.
