Anybody been to the new brewery where the ox used to be? My coworker said it's pretty sweet.

This thread started in June of 2013 so I've never read it.  You people should move.

Will the proposed new airport include a way to get from it to Kansas City?

If the airlines are paying for it, then let them pay for it, and tie their lease of the space to terms that regulate ticket prices.  Boom, done.

No airline will sign that. History shows terminals don't increase ticket prices at that airport....small part of their costs.

There is a presentation showing this data from 4 other cities.

from what i gather it's just supposed to make it easier for the airlines to operate, and also another notch on the ol headboard for Sly.

If they won't sign it, then woohoo they get to use this perfectly acceptable airport.  It's a win win really.

I remember a town hall about the single terminal proposal that happened at the central library like 2-3 years ago. My two take ways from that were:

1) The Q&A and panel quickly dissolved into listening to the imaginations of quite an eclectic group of insane people

2) Pretty much everyone there, insane or not were firmly, and I mean firmly, against making it be a single terminal

Granted that was about 400 people or so, but I literally heard 0 positive reception to a new terminal, and those who had even anything positive to say about it were simply not as adamant as those against it.

I went into that meeting just out of straight curiosity and with some coworkers, and not a strong opinion one way or another. Now that time has passed, there would be a lot better things for KC to spend $1 billion on, and as long as things stay as convenient as they are for the vast majority of serious business travelers, it ain't changing. Any small fixes, including just freaking adding precheck to American can be achieved w/o throwing out the entire airport.

Also, apparently Panj and I have the exact same travel habits in how we use MCI.

Is there value to the city in ensuring that visitors don't equate KC with Nantucket when they deplane?

i love that people are like lolwtf when they deplane at mci.

i also love that the only airline that makes people change planes at MCI is southwest. this should make people regret flying southwest.

We'd be better off with more direct flights than we would with a new terminal.  I'm talking like MCI > Amsterdam or something.  (Not that the volume could/would ever justify actually having those flights.)   My old company literally moved their executives to Chicago because the Danes hated getting on that extra flight.
