Is downtown even big enough for that to happen.

The boom surrounding that would be absolutely huge.

There is currently about the same amount of class A officespace downtown that cerner is proposing at Bannister (4M sf)... 85% of that is occupied... So you would have seen quite a few new buildings... Plenty of surface lots for that.  Town Pavilion which I believe is the largest building by square foot office space is a little over 1M sf for sizing comparison.

cerner downtown would have been increds and should have happened
sprint's op campus came about long before downtown's resurgence, the planning for it started in the very early 90's

And Sprint is filling a small fraction of its office space after their series of gigantic cutbacks. They have all sorts of floors and partial floors that have gone dark and empty. Place is like a morgue.

Downtown probably dodged a bullet there.

If they ever throw the Royals downtown, will they knock down the crappy part of the River Market?

They should put it just east of Troost, somewhere north of 18th street.  That would help that area out a crap load.  It would displace a whole lot of ppl that the city loves to act like they want to help, though, so it probably would never happen.

It was only a 2 story building.  I don't know about them all, but the plans I've seen for cerner trails are all 2-5 stories.

Building vertical is super expensive tho. I'm bidding a 31 story building right now that is probably double the cost of spreading that square footage out over a multiple building campus.

A tie-in to the NLBM, Jazz museum and the rest of 18th and Vine would be incredibly cool.

land is also part of the cost though. say you need 5 acres of land to build a 5 story building, that could be accomplished with 1.5 acres if a 30 story building is built. I have no idea if those numbers are right, just a guess.

An amazon type urban campus would be super impactful to downtown.... Skyscrapers are fun but the impact a well designed 4M sf urban campus would be much bigger.

That whole park is under construction right now.  Not sure what they are doing but it's going down.

No worries... Lots of places there don't give off the best first impression... They grabbed a newer built place...

The park is getting a new rehab by parks and rec

so that thing is taking up the only lane with a double line?  i didn't know that.  what happens to the poor saps stuck behind it and having to stop at each stop while riders get on and get off?  the whole line of cars behind just have to wait?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Most of the route has a dedicated turn lane as well but yes.  Luckily KC has no traffic....and that sitch also easily avoided by using two way streets one block east (walnut) and west (baltimore).
