MDW and ORD were just too much to stomach.  I need to get back to a city with a real airport.

Guess all the Garth fans got hosed last night by the streetcar....streetcar said they would stay open an extra hour last night (till midnight) but ended up closing at normal time (11pm) due to some track maintenance.

Streetcar operations continues to learn in their first year that people are relying on their service ...and deliver what you say you are going to do.

My biggest annoyance with streetcar operations so far is they don't always approach their operations with a mass transit mindset (understanding need to communicate out service changes / interruptions timely, etc) ...all learning process.

maybe the streetcar not showing was an unanswered prayer for some of those concert goers.
if tomorrow never comes, i'll feel bad for those concert goers who weren't able to ride the streetcar.
if the streetcar did come to get those concert goers it would sound like a storm sound when the thunder rolls.
rumor has it that the streetcar people were shameless in their actions of shutting service down an hour ealier than they said they would.

They didn't want to hang out with their friends in low places that normally take mass transit anyways

How expensive can it really be to expend the streetcar? The capital supporting assets are already in place. How uch does laying new track really cost? I wouldn't think that much compared to what we've dropped so far on it.

tell me more about the current capital supporting assets that will support a more than 2x expansion on top of its current role

Original budget was $102MM....that was 4.4 mile total of track. The expansion would add ~7 miles of track.  The maintenance facility cost $11.8MM.  I'm guessing we'll need another one of those.  Cars were $4.39MM per vehicle (bought 4).  We're close to buying 2 more and I'd assume we'll need to buy at least 4 more for expansion for a total of 10.  Stops were $640,000 per stop, guessing we'll have more stops in the expansion.  The current projected budget for the expansion is $227MM in 2019 dollars.

if they do expand it, i really with they would consider alternatives to main street but i'm sure in typical sly james fashion he'll ram down our throats whatever he decides we need

also really not looking forward to more of those cars on the existing line further congesting traffic on main st
