If you want to party, Memphis beats San Diego by a bajillion.
False. San Diego nightlife has gone up since the last time K-State was at the Holiday Bowl. But if you want to stay close to the stadium (which is a craphole) then you're SOL.

Plus San Diego has one of the best craft brew scenes in the nation.

I am nostalgic over the Holiday Bowl, and have gone to 2 of 'em. It sucks it is leaving the rotation anyone who says different is wrong.

It sucks not being able to go back, but at the same time, new doors are opening. I'm excited about the prospects of a potential Disney World bowl game pak and getting wasted in Memphis.

Memphis seems just "okay" in a blue collar kind of way.  Can speak definitively about San Diego and know it extremely wel - there just isn't a comparison.  San Diego has a ridic amount of nightclubs and rooftop bars in the Gaslamp District, and tons of more laid back beach bars in Pacific Beach.  La Jolla up north a few min or Coronado Island are a little more high-end/refined; and there's no shortage of stuff for families that don't want the bar/club scene.

Losing the Dallas/Cotton and San Diego/Holiday sucks all around and a trip to Memphis doesn't come close.

Can confirm Memphis is an ugly shithole with many poors
Free edge up to defensive starters when opponents held under 10.

Go to San Diego if you love Green Day.  And Memphis if you prefer the Sex Pistols.

Been to the Holiday Bowl twice...loved it, not happy we are losing it.  Happy for the Florida bowl though!
I have a really good buddy of mine that just moved from Memphis, he was a pilot for an airline.  He lived in Memphis for a year could not stand the city, he would not even refer to it as Memphis, he would call it "hell" instead.

i am super pissed about this but then i think about how pissed off i am about oscar's recruiting, LHC LHC Bill Snyder's recruiting, oscar not scheduling an OOC Sprint Center game, oscar firing angel from the team, frank leaving, currie firing jamar from the team, the WSC being behind schedule, the WSC not having trees, the field turf mismatching, the date picked for fattyfest, the Big 12 - SEC Challenge match ups, not playing a better team than Tulane in Brooklyn, Josh Gray, Will Spradling, not having a limestone wall at BSFS, the Accounting firm who audits KSUAD, the AD not selling beer to poors at BSFS, the AD not announcing the Spring Game time/date sooner, and then i'm like oh man, i'm so mad.

I never went to the holiday bowl, though I have been to San Diego.  I loved the new year's eve part of the holiday bowl.  I'll miss that.

Apart from that, I do not give a mother rough ridin' crap about losing the holiday bowl.

I liked the Holiday Bowl better when it was important enough to have a real sponsor like Plymouth.  Nothing like getting your picture taken next to a badass new Plymouth Voyager at the San Diego civic center.

Then it became the Culligan Holiday Bowl, which was okay if you liked purified water from your kitchen sink.

Then it becamse the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl which isn't bad if you're into humpback whales.

Then it went off the rails and was the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl, which nobody really knows what that means.  It's almost as confusing as the Arizona Cardinals playing in the University of Phoenix stadium, which isn't really a University and the Cardinals aren't really a NCAA team (then again they're barely an NFL team so maybe it does fit).

It won't be long before it's the Joe's Plumbing & Air Conditioning Holiday Bowl, and thankfully the Big XII will have nothing to do with that nonsense.

Memphis is very proud of their super cargo-y airport

Delta just announced they're dropping Memphis from their Hub network. It was a leftover POS NW hub and never made sense with Atlanta right there anyway. Memphis airport basically just became MCI.

That is very hurtful and not true SD. MCI at least has SW now. BTW you should see the small timey spectacle that the city is making out of this new service.

I'm really pumped for ICT. I've already booked flights. Also, I think you're confusing MCI with ICT.

Memphis is the second busiest cargo airport in the world, after hong kong.

Fed ex > delta for them.

This is probably good news for Memphis airfare prices. fewer directs, but better prices. And I mean their directs were to places like Huntsville, AL and Columbia, MO. Woof.
