I guess I'm not as worried about this as everyone else. With there now being 6 top level bowls, the #2 Big12 will have to be outside the top 11 not to still have a 2nd team in the Fiesta, Cotton, or, Chick-Fil-A.  Our best team not in a playoff bowl (most years our #3) will go to the Alamo to play the PAC-12s best team not in a playoff bowl.  After that our next best team will probably go to Orlando to play the ACC's best team not in a playoff bowl (Big12s 3/4 vs ACC 2/3).  After that I have no problem with regional bowls our fans can easily get to.
How does the Sugar fit in?  Do we only send a big12 team if they are conference champs and not in the playoff?

It's obvious the national media is trying to give the Big 10 our exposure. Is WVU killing us? :bang:

Knew we should if added San Diego State!  :curse:

It's like the Big XII gives us all more money but much shittier things.

How does the Sugar fit in?  Do we only send a big12 team if they are conference champs and not in the playoff?

If its not a semifinal, our champ goes there. If champ is in playoff, our next best goes no matter what (my top 11 comment was incorrect, as the Orange and Rose have similar agreements that would allow a non-top 11 team to get in those bowls, thus reducing the number of available at-large spots)

If the Sugar is a semifinal, our champ goes to another top 6 bowl. If the Sugar is a semi and our champ is in the playoff (whether its in the Rose or Sugar), the auto bids stop and if we want a 2nd team in they have to be ranked high enough to get a autobid.

The rough years will be the years the Fiesta and Chick-Fil-A bowls are the semis, because those years there will only be 1 true at-large spot in the Cotton to play the top ranked non-AQ champ. If the Big12 gets a team in the playoff those years, we get 2 in because our #2 goes Sugar. However, if there isn't a Big12 team in the playoff, to get that Cotton spot we have to have the top ranked at-large team after the Rose, Orange, and Sugar (SEC side) backfill with teams from their contacted conferences.

I'm kind of conflicted. San Diego is definitely elite, but their stadium was  :barf:

I would have been fine replacing it with a different equally elite bowl, but Buffalo Wild Wings, Russell Athletic, Liberty, Meineke Car Care and Heart of Dallas are rough ridin' garbage.

Now maybe we (k-state) will actually win a bowl game every once in a while.

The big-12 should start some of our own bowls. They could be elite. Conference keeps all revenue minus the fee paid to the opposing team for showing up. Kinda like a home non-con game.

This is where crap gets complicated and I feel like the Big 12 is getting screwed.

If we took 2012 as an example, the bowls would of looked like this-

Playoff - none
KSU- in Sugar as champ
OU - borderline on top 11, most likely Alamo?
UT - Buffalo Wild Wings (old Insight in PHX correct?)
OSU - Russel Athletic (old Citrus in Orlando)
ISU - Liberty
WvU - Meineke Care Care (this is the game in Charlotte, NC I believe)
BU - Heart of Dallas

Poor rough ridin' choices. Next thing the will do is add a bowl game in KC. Can't wait for the KC Masterpiece bowl, or god forbid the Legends Bowl and they play in the Sporting KC stadium.

Dude, Livestrong only seats like 19k so we don't have to worry about playing any games there period, let alone a bowl game.

To be fair, in those years we run the same risk as the PAC and ACC. The risk is also a little less for the BigTen and SEC, but not much, each only have a 38% chance if getting an extra locked in spot in the Orange.

I guess it depends on who you think is doing the screwing of the Big12 here. The system is slightly, but no more than the PAC or ACC. Maybe the Big12 is screwing itself with its bowl lineup. I also think your lineup will prove to be wrong. Maybe it's me being optimistic, but I really think the Russell jumps the BWW and matches our #3 with the ACC's best non-playoff team. I don't think think they'd invest to get the ACC's 2nd pick and match them up with our 4.  Having our teams matched up with both the PAC and ACC's best non-playoff bowl teams is pretty good, I just don't think the names of those bowls are what you think would historically produce them.

I'm excited about the Liberty Bowl.  I suppose I wish we still had the Holiday bowl AND added the Liberty Bowl, but Memphis seems really fun.

It seems like a place I would have fun.

If we are going to expand with teams on the east coast, we should probably dump the west coast bowl games and pick up east coast bowl games. This move seemed inevitable.

i am super pissed about this but then i think about how pissed off i am about oscar's recruiting, LHC Bill Snyder's recruiting, oscar not scheduling an OOC Sprint Center game, oscar firing angel from the team, frank leaving, currie firing jamar from the team, the WSC being behind schedule, the WSC not having trees, the field turf mismatching, the date picked for fattyfest, the Big 12 - SEC Challenge match ups, not playing a better team than Tulane in Brooklyn, Josh Gray, Will Spradling, not having a limestone wall at BSFS, the Accounting firm who audits KSUAD, the AD not selling beer to poors at BSFS, the AD not announcing the Spring Game time/date sooner, and then i'm like oh man, i'm so mad.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

It seems like a good craphole though, doesn't it?  I mean, if you just hit the legendary bbq joints and blues bars, and the game, what more could you really want?

No, I think I'll like the Memphis thing.
