When I was in grade school my dad rode from mhk to Denver. That's uphill the whole way!
Was this part of a group ride event or a solo endeavor?

Just him and a bro.

did he ride back also or just uphill??

My mom and I drove to Denver to pick him up. I don't know how the bro got home.

Reminds me of this podcast episode. 10-13 year old kids ride 240 miles to visit their uncle.

I've got a 2006 4wd V6 RAV4 that I use as my vision questing/pheasant hunting vehicle. It hasn't gotten much use since pheasant hunting season besides being driven to work a couple of times a month to keep her honest. Basically been sitting in my driveway.

Leaving for my vision quest on Friday so I spent today giving it a lil checkup and when I popped the hood I saw a mouse scatter. I found it's lil half made nest and vacuumed it up then took her for a spin to run some errands hoping that would scare the mouse off.

When I got back and was taking some stuff out of the backseat the little rough rider jumped out and ran underneath the car probably to jump back in my engine compartment.

War has been declared, 2 mouse traps (baited with Snickers) set underneath the engine and 2 mousetraps set inside of the vehicle.

Also spent the day resetting my fishing gear to trout fishing/putting new line on and organizing my vision questing gear.

Someone on here recommended a jet boil for vision questing a couple of years ago and it's probably my most valued possession. Nothing like waking up and having some boiling water to make coffee with after a couple of minutes.

Has anyone used it to cook meals with?

JetBoil is great for “just add water” cooking (freeze dried backpacking meals, oatmeal, hot chocolate, etc.).  I’ve never used mine for any real cooking.  They do make some little pans that fit, so people must be doing it.  They run so hot that it seems like it would be hard to do anything that needs lower temp.

I agree with what tdaver said.

One of my little 'croppings and I used it to heat water for backpacking meals on a trip. Works awesome for that. Tried to make some scrambled eggs with it and it took a while - be sure you have a windscreen and are using pots and pans that are designed with it. The speed with which that little beauty boils water is amazing.

Jetboils are basically only good for boiling water. The level of heat they put out don't lend themselves to cooking other things. Pasta might be the only exception.

my buddy ruined my jetboil by placing a pot directly on the burner, instead of using the cup that comes with it. i was able to get a replacement burner from jetboil for like $30 so it ended up not being a big deal. i love it for coffee and use a filter that has "legs" that grab the top of your mug. pretty hard to beat on a cool mountain morning

Spent the last 4 days vision questing through Wyoming and finally broke down and rented a cabin/hotel so I could shower etc. Will give a full update in a couple of days when I am back but here was the highlight of day 1.
