goEMAW shooters

Hello EMAW friends!

Anyone else enjoy some fantastic target shooting?

What do you shoot?

My current setup is a Remington 700 Police LTR .308 that is pretty mean.

I am rather inexperienced at long range shooting so I am getting tips from co-workers about the finer points of target shooting.

Sucks that it is so expensive to go out and shoot now but that is life I guess.

inb4 you're a gun nut, crazy person, killer, psycho etc. (not a political thread take yo self to da pit!)

haven't shot in soooo long.  Ammo prices will probably keep me in this spring.

I'm going down the rabbit hole on precision reloading right now.  Managed to score enough components to keep me shooting through the summer and hunting in the fall.

Where do you shoot Unruly?

Currently at a co-workers place in MS who has 800 yds cleared out.

Really wanting to get a 338 lapua since I figured out that I have a clear mile to shoot at the parents house in KS.  :lick:

I prefer the McMillen Brothers Tac-50 A1, but then I'm not a pussy.  I used to use an AWM rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum pre-puberty.  Maybe when your balls drop you'll look into it.

Holy crap, that's a long ways.

I belong to a private range where every day I can shoot to 300 yards, and then some certain events can shoot to 500.  Have access to land a couple hours away where I could shoot as long as I wanted to but haven't taken advantage yet.  I'd like to get to a point where I'm killing most prairie dogs under 400 yards before I buy more stuff and start pushing the distances.

As it is now I'm working up a load for my sporter 25-06 and 26 rounds in one session was enough to have my shoulder throwing in the towel.

I'm still currently in the stages of finding out which ammo my 700 likes, but right now it is really into the Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr.

Co-worker has an LTR like mine, just not the police model, and he shot a scored 5 shot group at 100yds of .473".  Just one big hole.

It is nice that this one has the 20" barrel because I haven't had any recoil/kick issues with it yet.  Though that short barrel makes this mother trucker really loud.

My favorite things to shoot from really far away are watermelons and pig heads.  We set up a camera to record the impact.  Pretty neat.  If I could do it over again, I would seriously consider having been a sniper.  I can't imagine what it would look like if you hit a bad person with one of those .50 BMGs.  I bet they just go flying.  And partly explode.  Rad for sure.

My longest confirmed kill is a prairie dog at 321 yards.  Right through the neck.  He was on a hill so he fell down and rolled a ways before he stopped.

Anyway that's pretty n00b'ish but this fall I'll go 400 for sure.  Not a doubt in my mind.

I don't shoot animals, but a lot of cattle ranchers are super  for letting people come blast prairie dogs because cows will step in their holes and break their legs.

It's not for me.  I like to settle on in there, take my time and get it just right.  I like the deliberateness of it.

It's a pretty fun way to spend a warm Montana afternoon after chasing birds.  Don't eat them (the pdogs).  They carry the plague, man (always park upwind or crosswind).   :sdeek:

I don't care.  Like if I did care I'd reference ranchers hating them and them causing harm to cattle and bla bla bla, but I just shoot them because it's fun. If that's unethical, then I don't wanna be Trim.

FN Herstal FNAR (based off of the Browning BAR) 20 inch heavy fluted barrel, chambered in 7.62x51 NATO.  Guaranteed minute of angle accuracy out of the box.  Bst shot group I've had was a tad under 1/2 inch at 100 yards.

I usually tie up some rabbits or squirrels or honeybees or some other piece of trash animal and pace off about 4,000 paces before settling into my shooting stance (< prone). Lately I've been getting sighted in on my AK47 fully automatic boner maker. I'm good from about a mile if I can get a good read on the wind speed and direction. I'll just squeeze off about a thousand rounds until the animals are a fine mist of blood splatter and bone fragments. if I don't have some animal as a target I'll use a cardboard cutout of my ex wife or an illegal flipping the bird and grabbing his crotch as a target. I make them at kinkos.
