I would take Geno over oscar, because he's not a proven loser. I wouldn't be that impressed with the hire, though. It would be the equivalent of going out and hiring Larry Kehres to coach our football team. I'm still pretty bummed we don't have The Hurricane coaching our basketball team.

All of you that wanted Gottlieb but answer oscar to this question are.
1. Sexist
2. Hypocrites
3. Morons
I don't mean one or two but all three.

All of the reasons you wanted Doug over oscar apply to Geno as well except he has 8 titles. I'm disappointed on the lack of critical thinking here. You dumbasses hate women's basketball more than you enjoy exercising consistency and common sense.
This is such bullshit. Two different people. Thought that part was obvious.

I prefer oscar out of all 3 choices.  I'm the opposite of sexist, hypocritical and moronic.   :gocho:

I would take a geno hiring as a "at least he's not a proven loser" type of attitude.  but I'd be butthurt when phog.net made fun of us about it.

Has there ever been a coach that crossed over from women's bb to men's?  I can't think of one off the top of my head.

I would just like to reiterate that in no way, shape, or form do Geno and Gottlieb bring the same things to the table at K-State.

Actually I thought of you when I made my first post. You are absolutely one of the posters who could pick oscar over Geno and not be a complete hypocrite, I should have listed you actually along with Dax and CC although I feel like Dax was more interested in being a contrarian than anything else. So

Yes you did!

I feel like rake asked this question to humiliate the board and you all fell right in line

What would you think if Currie hired Larry Kehres to replace LHC Bill Snyder?

I have no idea who that is. Is he a D2 football coach? I;m guessing this is an inexact comparison. They questions I have to ask are 1. do we think Snyder is doomed to fail like most think about oscar and 2. Does this Kehres guy exhibit the exact opposite traits that we make fun of Snyder for? Like is he young, a great recruiter and isn't down with nepotism? and 3. Is he literally the greatest winner at the level of whatever sport he coaches?

If the answer to all of these questions is YES than sure I'm down, but I'm not a good judge because I'm likely not going to care nearly as much who replaces Snyder as I did with this last basketball hire.

I would just like to reiterate that in no way, shape, or form do Geno and Gottlieb bring the same things to the table at K-State.

Are you going to elaborate? I was an pro-Gottlieb as anyone and continue to be, but I would take Geno over him too. Geno would give us a higher media profile than either of the two. Geno isn't awkward, make excuses, eat chicken nuggets, recruit poorly, run a bland offense, have an annoying voice, or all of those other things oscar gets made fun of for.

The only thing I can think of that you can even attempt to make somewhat of a legitimate argument for Doug over Geno is if you think he is more connected to potential GOOD assistants and has the ability to lure them here to work under him. Frankly, I don't know how either of us can make that argument because in both cases frankly it's a wildcard. Doug mentioned his brother and Doug Wojic, you can't definitively state those two are better than anyone Geno could bring in.

People were/are mad about the oscar hire because we hired a low risk/low reward retread and we needed to take a high risk/high reward hire both oscar and Geno fit that description.

I'd love to hear your reasoning that is seemingly different from every other thing I've heard on here the last year. Would also be interested to know if you had this fresh perspective why would you hold it out until now?

I think established D1 assistants would be more open to Gottlieb because of sexism.

Maybe, but it's just as likely that they wouldn't work for Doug because he hasn't "paid his dues."

I don't think that's as likely. Plus Gottlieb probably knows more D1 assistants personally from his work in media.

geno might be great at motivating women, but hey- what's it take?  a few nice pieces of jewelry and some flowers?  an new vacuum?

motivating a man is a different story and geno hasn't proven squat as it relates to the men's game.  basketball is a game played by men, and women that try to be men.  truth hurts sometimes.

advantage:  king oscar.  vote:  king oscar.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.
