There always seems to be a huge outcry about government subsidy ratios.

(Honestly don't know) What would be the price of food in the United States without farm subsidies?   Would no farm subsidies be the end of the family farm?  What if things like CRP didn't exist, what would the impact on wildlife and the environment?

I've heard a lot of outcry about the amount of money Alaska receives, but several items I've heard to explain that is that the Federal Gov't controls huge amounts of land in Alaska, and that Alaska had the old bait and switch pulled on it.   Some argue that Alaska in turn for becoming a state, was promised a much freer reign to exploit it's natural resources, but those efforts have been stymied by the Federal Gov't over the years.

One side of the argument is that states like Kansas and others receive significant federal subsidies for things that enable National Self Reliance, Security, maintenance of a way of life and/or preservation of natural resources.

Farm subsidies are great for America and help the poor.

Farm subsidies amount to about 1% of the federal budget.  They don't do jack crap in the grand scheme of things and are completely overblown. They anti-corporate farming crowd uses them to insulate their wealth.

CRP ground is for land speculators and crap ground people don't want to develop.

Not saying that I am for or against subsidies, but 1% of the federal budget is huge

the impact on wildlife populations would noticeable and strongly negative.  i don't know what you mean by the environment, not including wildlife, so i can't answer that.

The Agriculture Department has paid millions of dollars in crop insurance subsidies and conservation assistance to dead people over the last few years, a federal watchdog has found.

Between fiscal 2008 and 2012, the department's Risk Management Agency doled out $22 million in subsidies and allowances for crop insurance to the dead, the Government Accountability Office found. Over that same time period, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service spent more than $10 million on deceased individuals.

Why don't these Kansas/Iowa farmers report that they are receiving checks improperly?

Welp, now we understand Clams concern about the unfinished parts of WSC, it's gonna get repo'd.

We just can't have nice things.
