Old people with smart phones.
« on: April 01, 2013, 10:28:52 AM »

Sitting at the doctors office watching an old couple try and figure out her smart phone. It's quite entertaining.

It's hard to navigate the touchscreen when holding the phone as far away from your eyes as your arms will allow.

There is an unsecured wireless printer in this office. I wonder if I sent a crazy pic to the printer if they'd know who sent it.

I got both of my parents iPhones last year and they've turned into massive data hogs.  Also takes them roughly 20 minutes to type out a short iMessage on the touchscreen.

I worked for a company that gave a few employees iPhones shortly after they came out. A group of us were at dinner and decided to go to a movie. Everyone was trying to remember exactly where the theater was, and I remind a guy who was about thirty years old that he had an iPhone.

He's like, "oh yeah! what area code are we in again?"

he was going to call information.

Mrs.hamburgs grandma has a newer, generic smartphone. She wrote down a bunch of phone numbers on a peice of paper and scotch taped it to the back of the phone.
I got a guy on the other line about some white walls

Mrs SF and Mrs SF mom thought it would be a great idea to get grandma an iPhone.  It is a fracking disaster.  Every time I see them, I have to fix something.  Mrs SF's parents can't even work their own and I spend hours fixing their stuff as well. The worst part is that can do the bare minimum myself.  I can just keep it from fracking up and keep it doing the things I want, but I am some techie savant to them. I think you should have to be 45 and under to have a smart phone or you should have to pay for some service that you can call and they fix everything for you.

This.

Was extremely happy when my mom went back to a regular flip phone.  Dad still uses a RAZR.

I know a 75 year old guy who uses his Android like a pro. Sends out group texts, replies in a timely manner, looks up weather. All indications that he knows  exactly what he's doing. It's pretty great.

My grandma thinks lol means "lots of love" so her texts always end with "lol grandma"

Makes it difficult to take some texts seriously

"grandpas heart attack was pretty minor.  he should be back home in a couple hours and back to work in a week or so.  lol grandma."

At least she replies pretty quick and doesn't need help working her phone.

Where did you get that overnight bag?
