pushing '2' in an elevator
« on: March 26, 2013, 11:56:36 AM »
i've never done it. i always take the stairs.

i wish more would do the same, especially in a hotel with dozens of floors and if elevator already crowded.

i would say that proper etiquette should be that you take the stairs for anything less than the 5th floor, unless you're carrying something heavy.

what constitutes heavy might be for another thread, though.

The worst at work.  Especially during busy times like arrival, lunch, and leaving times.  If it's someone I know I usually give them crap even if other people are in the elevator doing the same.

Going down on a Friday and someone gets on the elevator at 2 to leave instead of going down stairs  :chainsaw:

What if you're going from the 19th floor to the 2nd floor?

Our office building doesn't have a 2nd floor.  The first button in our elevator is 20.

WTF do you do with all the space between the 1st and 20th floors? That sounds incredibly inefficient.

I think there are other elevators that go to those floors. Not sure. It doesn't effect me.

Personally I have never taken a dump in an elevator. Pooped in several other odd places though.

Weird question, but I'm glad to answer!

Oh, that makes sense and actually is much more efficient than having the elevator stop on the first 20 floors. You said your office doesn't have a 2nd floor, which had me confused.

I guess there's no 2nd floor because the entrance to the building has high 20-25 ft ceilings. I've actually taken the stairway down from the 35th floor and I noticed no door to the 2nd floor.

You know who loved using elevators? People living in Haymaker. Going down from the 3rd floor to the 1st? Elevator.

The 5 floor rule is dumb and should be revised to 3 floors.

Also, the rule should be fully ignored when super crap faced on vacation.

For me, there are a lot of variables. If I'm walking past an open empty elevator and want to go to the second floor, I will hop in and press 2, no doubt about it. I don't do it if there are other people in the elevator, though, because that is just a dick thing to do.
