Any advice for a first time uncle?

My bro's son was born today.  I know I have to buy a Playboy.  Not sure what else to do.   :dunno:

Other than visiting your bro and sis-in-law in the hospital, Uncle responsibilities don't really kick in for another few months.

Get drunk at family gatherings

And then breathe right into your nephew's face so that he can smell the Coors Original.

They're like a thousand miles away so I think I'm just going to chill out here.

actually your most important job is to teach him a bunch of inappropriate behavior and then encourage it as often as possible.  it's the ultimate sibling revenge.  but that won't start for at least a couple of years.

Just in case your bro is a dumbass, pressure him into starting a college fund.

He might see that as mean because one time I made fun of him for not graduating from KU.

Emo could start the fund.  Put small amount in it and the rest is up to the parents.  :dunno:

Everytime they leave him with you, you get to pick his haircut.  Remember that

Sometimes it takes mean to keep a bro from being a dumbass.

Find a restaurant your bro and family like and have a big meal from that restaurant delivered to their house.

This is a good thought.  At this point, your concern should not be the kid, but the parents.  The kid is just a skin sack filled with bones right now.  Nothing you can do for him.  Help the parents.

Agreed. I have been very successful with this. My nephew has acquired all my bad habits.

toys and EMAW gear for various stages of baby's life are always well received.  ask parents to find out which ages they still need stuff for.  little buggers grow up so fast

Don't diddle him and pay for stuff when he visits you.  This is not hard.
