why is this ksu hoops season so boring?

after giving this more thought, i have decided that oscar weber is to blame. he is quite possibly the most uninteresting, most uninspiring coach in the country, and in turn, k-state is one of the most uninteresting "good" teams this year. oscar has no sideline demeanor and looks pathetic in his suits. he is perceived to be a "good basketball mind," but because he looks pathetic, none of us actually believes that to be true. he's not brash, he's not arrogant, he's not a great recruiter, he's not a tactician, he's not a screamer. he's just ... pathetic.

this year's k-state team is missing a storyline. it's one of the few teams in the country that does not have one. while it's true that they've gotten better as the season has progressed, it has been pretty steady all along - good, yes, but never bordering on great. usually, k-state gets off to a crappy start in Big 12 play, frank talks about how awful the team is, and then they climb the standings (and rankings) before positioning themselves for a postseason run. this year's team has been clearly inferior to KU, and the teams below them - especially at the bottom - have never been a threat to catch up.

i would describe this season as having a certain "inevitability" to it, which has made it boring.

Well, this year is relatively tough for them, so it's probably kind of exciting. I mean their game against us had record decible ratings.

Scott Drew's recruiting has them cruising toward the NIT at the moment. Just sayin'.

The pattern lately is that every few years his talented players overcome his coaching and they end up in the Elite 8.

I'm not convinced that interest is down.  I don't know what it would take to show that.  At the same time, if I imagine changing every factor suggested here independently - from oscar to rules changes to conference strength - I don't see how the level of interest would be all that different.

In general, many well attended games are boring.  Many exciting games are not well attended.  Someone said it already, but they're not really very closely related.

This is why I'm ready for KU to go to the Big 10.  If the Big 12 doesn't add Louisville and maybe Cincinnati or Florida State, then it's time to throw in the towel on this league and it's small minded shareholders.

Guys I'm having trouble separating my BID from my enjoyment of this season.  It maybe be irrational but it's true.

Not boring for me having 23 wins on 02/25/13. Not boring for me to watch the remaining games with the anticipation of gaining a conf champy and perhaps a 3 or 2 seed. Make fun of oscar all you want, but these kids play hard for him and dont quit. Thats not boring.

I wish more fans would enjoy attending games as much as I do. Boring ? noop.
