This is fine for in the season discussion, but ultimately we've reached the point where this season will be defined by what oscar does in March.

KU coming back to the pack and us being in the Big 12 title chase has been really fun for me, but its really gravy.

At the end of the day, especially when looking at a 4/5 seed now minimum, the perceptions of this season will swing based on what happens in the tornament. Personally, I will be disappointed if we don't make the 2nd weekend; and regardless of match-ups etc. I think that's become a reasonable expectation.

you'll need at least to win out and win one game in the tournament to get better than a 4 seed.  that would give you 6-4 vs rpi top 50 with your major wins being florida (hopefully they keep it together) and OSU?

OSU and KSU are quality programs who will either be good under their current coaches or find somebody else who is successful. Drew is an excellent coach who will have Baylor playing good basketball more often than not. I have also been impressed with Hoiberg.

There won't be anyone worth adding to the Big 12 until the fate of the ACC is decided.  The fate of the ACC won't be decided until the Maryland/ACC legal/contractual/buyout issue is resolved.

I find it hilarious that people on this board melted down harder after an ISU home loss to KU than a KSU home loss to KU.  And when I see that, I ask “why?”.  And the answer is that no one, and I mean NO ONE, thought we were actually going to compete for a title when we lost to KU at home and it was only after KU lost to OU that there was legitimate hope.  So to acting like “oh man, we’ve felt like we were competing this whole season, man it’s been exciting, fist pump after beating WVU at home” is disingenuous.  You didn’t believe before, you didn’t really care before, don’t act like you really had been.  But that would take being honest with yourself.

It's a whole lot harder to get pissed off at a bunch of kids who aren't getting paid and are trying their hardest but just can't get it done than it is to get pissed off because the Big 12 hires fat, lazy, shitty referees to do their games and they eff over Kansas State with their incompetence.

Pro-tip:  55-59 would have solved our problems, not a blown call.  KSU failed, not the refs.

We didn't get mumped over in 55-59, though. Our players just had a bad game.

While ISU got some bad calls, they had every chance to (a) get the rebound from EJ’s miss and didn’t, (b) defend every 3 EJ hit in the final minute, (c) hit free throws, (d) not take a 30ft desperation 3 when you had 4.9 seconds on the clock in regulation. 

But continue to be upset at ISU rather than KSU not doing what TCU could.

I'm not upset at all at ISU. I'm upset at the Big 12 for hiring that joke of a crew. We just handle things differently. I get pissed about things that any casual observer can see as complete bullshit. You go create threads bashing "Awful Rodriguez". To each his own.

so you are assuming that with different officials KU would have lost the game?

It wouldn't matter if KU had won or lost. I'm assuming that with different officials KU would not have won a game in which Withey was allowed 6 fouls, an obvious charge was not called at the end of the game, and then the guy who got ran over would not have then been called for a foul when somebody landed on him.

Why are you melting down about this?  Iowa State shot 34 free throws and had 15 fouls compared to 22 for KU.  How does a team that shoots 41 threes shoot 34 free throws and foul out KU's big man?  The officials missed calls all night, but you're fixated on the last few calls because they crushed your dreams and hopes.

You act like ku is just cruising through this year, and the last two games have gone to overtime, and ku needed a McLemore prayer to get OT in Lawrence against ISU.   'grats to ku for winning, but 3 more conference losses were nip and tuck the whole way.   Plus, like was just said WVU was just in the Final Four a couple of years ago, and in the prior 2 or 3 years the BiG was generally considered weak, Rutgers is pretty mediocre and Maryland is an NCAA bubble team and will be as long as Turdgeon is around . . . he's overrated.
