Yeah, I knew we had some strange fans, but man. Its amazing the things our own fans are coming up with to seemingly NOT enjoy this season.

This seems to be a conversation about “the greatest player of all time”, when you disagree with someone about who is the “greatest” then people tend to take it as you’re saying their guy sucks and should never play the game.  There’s excitement/anxiousness/nervousness/hope or whatever you want to call it this season, but I took most people’s “excitement” as a relative term and I look at why we’re excited (at least from my view – which people can certainly discount or whatever).  It’s boring or lacks excitement, relative to other seasons or reasons we were excited in those seasons.   Imo, to 10/11 and possibly ‘07/08.  I’d be thrilled for KSU to win a trophy ( I don’t think this will happen).  But thus far, ‘11/12 was more exciting to me because I felt like we were an above good team playing in an above good conference, and probably because we hadn’t been that good in like forever.

Yeah, we played the most difficult football schedule in school history, by far.

Maybe.  I still think the league was down on the whole.  OU was good.  Everybody else was pretty meh, IMO.  Baylor and OSU were clearly down from 2011.  KSU was up.  And everybody else was about the same.  KU was arguably the worst D-1 team.  Nobody can argue that Tech, TCU, ISU, WVU, were very good.  They really weren't.   

Fans were excited because of the title run.   

I feel like people say that the league was down because we were the ones beating everyone, not Oklahoma or Texas

This season is fine.  And if we win next three games I'll be in my underwear fistpumping in the street.  But that doesn't mean I'm going to get that excited for every win. 

Tech is ranked right between Southeast Missouri St. and Cal St. Bakersfield in kenpom.  There is no way that you guys had as much fun with that win as you say you had.

It's not like this is some kind of weird minority opinion.  The building had no energy, and there was, and continues to be, a lot more conversation on this board about the KU-ISU game than the Tech game.  Why is that?  Because our game had no drama, other than could we possibly choke at home to one of the three or four worst teams in the history of the conference.

This doesn't have anything to do with BiD, or people being weird, or anything else, other than for a lot of people, playing really bad teams isn't very exciting.

The top of the league isn't as good as years like 08-10 obviously, but its not terrible. The big difference is how bad the bottom 4 teams are; its rare to have pretty much 8 guaranteed wins in the league.

It's like having four Nebraskas. Think how boring a league with four Nebraskas would be. I mean, c'mon.

Except there are 4 teams in the league worse than any Nebraska team since 2004.

agreed to some extent but even that logic is flawed this late in the season.  to watch last night's Minnesota game and not think it may impact a Big 12 team when it comes to NCAA seeding is shortsighted.  and to not enjoy last night's Minnesota game is incomprehensible.

that is a good point.  one thing I find enjoyable is rooting for the team to win that best benefits my team come march.  i've been rooting for Ohio State a lot and Florida because it makes those non con wins look better.  right?

Yes, and you should always root for crappy teams to make runs in the midmajor conference tournaments to dilute the field.

I can't speak for j rake, but I interpreted it as, "why is this season more boring than it should be with all this winning we're doing?" And I agree with him that it's more boring than it should be, due to the absurdly low quality our league has sunk to this year (see: four Nebraskas-but-worse).

If we were in The Valley, we would win a ton (hell, WSU wins in that league, lol), but it would be boring as eff, don't argue.

Really, the league will be pretty damned good in the near future if WVU and Texas manage to bounce back. As a whole, it's pretty awful this year, though. Too much dead weight. It's not worth complaining about, though, as long as we are making the tournament.

Personally, I will be disappointed if we don't make the 2nd weekend; and regardless of match-ups etc. I think that's become a reasonable expectation.

Yeah, Texas and WVU will def be back to respectable soon unless one of them does something stupid with their coach.

ISU was absolute crap for so long, now that they look to be at least mediocre, once WVU and Texas bounce back to normal, the league will be really good.
