they are arguably a veteran player away from being in the lead of the big 12 this year and have one of the best home courts in all of college basketball.  sorry if that is 'low basketball iq'.

Its a little hard to judge b/c of the transfers, but they are arguably the most experienced team in the league. 3 of 5 starters are SRs, and 4 of their main 6 man rotation are SRs. Niang and Ejim are nice returners, but they are replacing their entire backcourt next year. It will be interesting to see how they do after Hoiberg played the transfer lottery his first few years.

I think ISU will continue to be a dangerous team that has trouble winning road games because Hoiberg will have no trouble getting shooters to want to play for him and he runs an offense that generates a ton of open 3's. He needs to get better athletes if he wants to get over the hump and start competing with the best in the conference, though.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this season.  Guess I'm in the minority.  League is down, no question, but we've got a legitimate shot to win the Leage Title for the first time in 25 years.

The football league was down too, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the eff out of this past season.

Trophies are fun.

The Big 12 wasn't down in football, LMAO.

Yeah, we played the most difficult football schedule in school history, by far.

I find it hilarious that people on this board melted down harder after an ISU home loss to KU than a KSU home loss to KU.  And when I see that, I ask “why?”.  And the answer is that no one, and I mean NO ONE, thought we were actually going to compete for a title when we lost to KU at home and it was only after KU lost to OU that there was legitimate hope.  So to acting like “oh man, we’ve felt like we were competing this whole season, man it’s been exciting, fist pump after beating WVU at home” is disingenuous.  You didn’t believe before, you didn’t really care before, don’t act like you really had been.  But that would take being honest with yourself.

It's a whole lot harder to get pissed off at a bunch of kids who aren't getting paid and are trying their hardest but just can't get it done than it is to get pissed off because the Big 12 hires fat, lazy, shitty referees to do their games and they eff over Kansas State with their incompetence.

Pro-tip:  55-59 would have solved our problems, not a blown call.  KSU failed, not the refs.

but I find the “excitement” dishonest because we aren’t excited about how good we are, we’re excited by how not great KU is.

i mean, really?

returning:
niang: 4* #69
Ejim: 3* nr (guy is damn talented though and will be back)
ellerman: 6'8
law (redshirt this year): played at tilton with noel, niang, and selden.  could be a solid PG

incoming:

Thomas (SG, 6'4): 4* #58
Morris (PG 6'1): 4* #94

not too bad so far.

While ISU got some bad calls, they had every chance to (a) get the rebound from EJ’s miss and didn’t, (b) defend every 3 EJ hit in the final minute, (c) hit free throws, (d) not take a 30ft desperation 3 when you had 4.9 seconds on the clock in regulation.

But continue to be upset at ISU rather than KSU not doing what TCU could.

I'm not upset at all at ISU. I'm upset at the Big 12 for hiring that joke of a crew. We just handle things differently. I get pissed about things that any casual observer can see as complete bullshit. You go create threads bashing "Awful Rodriguez". To each his own.

Yeah, we played the most difficult football schedule in school history, by far.

Maybe.  I still think the league was down on the whole.  OU was good.  Everybody else was pretty meh, IMO.  Baylor and OSU were clearly down from 2011.  KSU was up.  And everybody else was about the same.  KU was arguably the worst D-1 team.  Nobody can argue that Tech, TCU, ISU, WVU, were very good.  They really weren't.

Fans were excited because of the title run.

It wouldn't matter if KU had won or lost. I'm assuming that with different officials KU would not have won a game in which Withey was allowed 6 fouls, an obvious charge was not called at the end of the game, and then the guy who got ran over would not have then been called for a foul when somebody landed on him.

Why get upset at the team/players? They just play the game. Get upset at the coaches, and when warranted, the officials. You know, the guys your school and conference are actually paying and can fire.

Yep. There's not a crew in America who would send Withey to the bench after picking up 5 fouls. To think otherwise is just irrational.

No, I don't. Nobody is going to complain if Withey actually doesn't foul out. You don't get to stay on the court with 5 fouls just because looking at the film, it looks like 2 of them might have been bullshit. KU might have won the game with different refs. There should never be an end to a game like the one on Monday, though.

My point is that the refs sucked and handed KU the game. Different referees could have resulted in an entirely different game, but they couldn't possibly eff up the end of the game as much as the crew on Monday did.

Every win is the same, huh?  Good for you.

This late in the season with this much on the line, hell motherfucking yeah. The hells wrong with you? You must be like 60 years old and have clear memories of our last championship.

My 4 month old remembers it like it was just 3 months ago
