The top of the league isn't as good as years like 08-10 obviously, but its not terrible. The big difference is how bad the bottom 4 teams are; its rare to have pretty much 8 guaranteed wins in the league.

It's like having four Nebraskas. Think how boring a league with four Nebraskas would be. I mean, c'mon.

I mean, it's been two months since we've had a multi-fist-pumpy win.

been 31 hours for me

Every win is the same, huh?  Good for you.

You're a got dam disingenuous pissant if you don't think OU (twice), OSU, ISU (should have been twice), OU (Twice), WVU (twice), Texas (twice) weren't fist pump worthy.

GTFOMF with that.

You know what I meant, and you know that I'm right.

If you can't fist pump about a 20 point win over Texas Tech, I think you are probably beyond help.

the quality of the league is a non sequitur.  don't let them drag you into the discussion. if you're a college basketball fan- specifically a ksu cat hoops fan for the purpose of this thread, the season hasn't been boring.

I have't been bored one bit, but I was curious to see a comparison.

I'm not bored...

but the apathy from fans *students, cough* is pretty much universal across college athletics right now, I think that leads to some kind of boreing atmosphere at games.

I find it hilarious that people on this board melted down harder after an ISU home loss to KU than a KSU home loss to KU.  And when I see that, I ask “why?”.  And the answer is that no one, and I mean NO ONE, thought we were actually going to compete for a title when we lost to KU at home and it was only after KU lost to OU that there was legitimate hope.  So to acting like “oh man, we’ve felt like we were competing this whole season, man it’s been exciting, fist pump after beating WVU at home” is disingenuous.  You didn’t believe before, you didn’t really care before, don’t act like you really had been.  But that would take being honest with yourself.

We need stats about our dunk shots? Like, what % are we shooting on dunks? How often do we run the dunk shot out of every 100 posessions, ya know?

Exciting stats and crap.

I'm not sure anyone has said they thought we were competing for a title from the start, but once KU lost 3 in a row everyone jumped on board.

And what exactly is the problem with that?

moving forward the big 12 is in great shape.  If weber can recruit at least at the level he did at Illinois he'll be very competitive.  Hoiberg is going to be running a consistent top 25 program, Ford looks like he's going to be able to land talent, baylor and texas are what they are, and OU for the next few years should be solid (can't imagine kruger lasting more than 3 or 4 years more though).  The real issues are TCU, Tech, and West Virginia.  Will WVU even be in the league much longer?  Can TCU get enough local talent?  etc...

regardless, with the current lineup of coaches the league is very strong and will be very fun to watch.

This is a very good post.

Only if you are a 100% BIDer and the only perspective you view K-State basketball from this season comes from that premise. I mean, its clear who is in that camp by their posting this season, not that I have a problem with that. But in general people have changed their mind/expectations during seasons all the time, the 11 season is a perfect roller coaster example of that.

IMO its okay for that to happen and in fact it should be expected if you've followed BBSing for any length of time. Fans on BBSes have always been the most passionate and most reactionary.

Yes, once we realized that KU (might) suck enough to choke a title away, we got super excited and then, magically, the entire season turned “exciting” because our good team has been made better than good because of a just awful bottom 4 of the conference.  Nothing wrong with that.  Just admit it.  This isn’t necessarily directed at you, but I find the “excitement” dishonest because we aren’t excited about how good we are, we’re excited by how not great KU is.

It has nothing to do with BID.  Nothing.  It has everything to do with how awful the conference is.  Don’t get me wrong, there have been moments.  Florida was a nice win (however Tenn and MU kind of muted that win, imo, but at the time it was nice), Rod just blowing up in the 2nd half of the OSU game was nice, and I personally enjoyed beating Huggins at WVU.

they are arguably a veteran player away from being in the lead of the big 12 this year and have one of the best home courts in all of college basketball.  sorry if that is 'low basketball iq'.

Its a little hard to judge b/c of the transfers, but they are arguably the most experienced team in the league. 3 of 5 starters are SRs, and 4 of their main 6 man rotation are SRs. Niang and Ejim are nice returners, but they are replacing their entire backcourt next year. It will be interesting to see how they do after Hoiberg played the transfer lottery his first few years.

It's a whole lot harder to get pissed off at a bunch of kids who aren't getting paid and are trying their hardest but just can't get it done than it is to get pissed off because the Big 12 hires fat, lazy, shitty referees to do their games and they eff over Kansas State with their incompetence.

as someone who is in a divided household and socially surrounded by KSU grads I concur with this assessment mostly.  the excitement started after the florida win, then KU started showing signs of vulnerability at the start of conference play.  The game in manhattan was close enough to assume that it was possibly a fluke and KSU could win in lawrence.  then the 3 game losing streak then added fuel to the fire.

that being said I think once Webers motion starting working and KSU was scoring more effectively it got everyone's attention and the emergence of Angel as a quality PG has sustained KSU's national stature among the top teams.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this season.  Guess I'm in the minority.  League is down, no question, but we've got a legitimate shot to win the Leage Title for the first time in 25 years.

The football league was down too, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the eff out of this past season.

Trophies are fun.

niang played for tilton school in new hampshire last year.  they also had Nerlens Noel and Wayne Selden (incredible talent 3-5 for a HS team huh?)

Niang is going to be pissing us all off for another 3 years.  Kid just needs to mature a little physically and he'll be a very effective stretch 4/5.
