Comparing Recent Presidents' Vacation Days
« on: February 24, 2013, 05:33:03 PM »
Since the right wing loves to bitch and moan about how much President Obama goes on vacation:

Quote
Here's how Mr. Obama stacks up against more recent Presidents, if he keeps pace with 168 vacation days over eight years. President George W. Bush took all or part of 297 days at his Texas ranch. Bill Clinton took 174 days at Martha's Vineyard and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Ronald Reagan vacationed 349 days at his California ranch over eight years.

Spending time at home doesn't really constitute a vacation. How many days has the Obama family spent at home in Chicago?

the whole "vacation" thing for any president is stupid.  i imagine any president on "vacation" is still doing more work than the average 9-5er, it's just at a location that happens to not be the white house.

Agreed.  I doubt any President goes on vacation and just does no work at all.

Beem's need for validation goes beyond just KU, it goes into his political leanings as well.  Once you get to that level of need for validation, you'll get worked up about any small aspect if you can get one person to agree with you and validate your stance.  Every little hit on the validation pipe matters to Beems.

First of all, I'm not worked up about this.  Second, I'm not looking for validation.  This subject came up in another thread, and I thought it would be nice to post the vacation numbers of recent Presidents.  It's really not a big deal to me how much time President Obama and his family spend on vacation.

Take all the vacation you want Mr. Pres, just don't keep doing them seperately from the Mrs. and/or then flying back in forth in short turnarounds to places like Hawaii.   That's some pretty dang expensive traveling.

Man, just think of the carbon footprint . . . massive.

If I was president every day would be a vacation day and I'd only fly commercial to load up on miles for when I was no longer president.
