I don't see how anyone could complain about Fran being on a broadcast after listening to Bill Walton on PAC mid week games.

Am I alone in turning down the sound for almost all games?

Most of the time the announcers annoy me but I'm not staring at the refs waiting for hand signals. Therefore I need the noise for whistles. Not to mention the crowd is fun if you're team is doing well.

I love Walton. Has the balls to speak his mind, even if it is a bit crazy.

OMG, YES! The people who like Walton were the same people who liked Knight for pretty much the exact same reasons. I guess its different strokes for different folks. I don't know how people can like Walton but dislike Bardo, not sure how that can be reconciled as they both LOVE hearing themselves talk and there are times when the game seems secondary.

on a similar note, last night he castigated UW for scoring 38 points like it was part of their game plan to win.  I wanted to give him a good slapping at that point.  I'm sure their game plan was to drop 38 on Zona and see where the cards ended up from there.

The only thing I really don't like about Fran is that he always goes out of his way to talk about how great the officiating has been when it's shitty. He loves bringing up guys who used to be NBA refs but were fired for being shitty and talking about how they are great and aren't going to be intimidated.

This is my impression of Franschilla  :dunno:

Walton is great.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

This was my favorite Sciambi/Ellis game for us although we didn't have many. Poor video quality.
Ellis is very EMAW at :10(WOOHOO!) when JO swats it off the backboard. When he breaks down the replay at :30(BOOYAH!) it's great too.

Fran also loves to talk about euroball.  LOVES IT.

I don't understand the idea that you have to like Bardo if you like Walton.  Has Bardo ever made anyone laugh, even one time?  The guy is utterly humorless.

I appreciate Fran talking about Euroball, actually. As I said, his praise of officiating really gets on my nerves. There are no good officials, only different degrees of bad, and the announcers as a rule should just ignore them for the most part.

I appreciate guys like Fran, Scambi, etc. They know their stuff and make the game enjoyable.

Then there are times i enjoy listening to Walton, Vitale, etc. Just depends on my mood. They don't provide much insight but entertain me. Make me feel like this game is the best there is. I'm OK with that.

I can recognize that those guys are entertaining, just like people loved the fact that Knight was a curmudgeon, they just don't entertain me, ever.

C'mon MIR, you didn't chuckle even a little when Knight would predict the outcome of a FT while it was in flight?
