2012 - Django Unchained
2011 - Drive
2010 - Black Swan, and I think it's top 3 of movies to come out since 2000
2009 - Avatar, but only in 3D in the theater
2008 - The Dark Knight
2007 - There Will Be Blood
2006 - Little Miss Sunshine
2005 - Crash

over Inglorious?

I wrestled with it. Watching it at home I'd choose IB everytime. But 3D Avatar on the big screen is an amazing experience, even if the storyline sucks.

Kid movies
89 Lean on Me

I think you have the 1986 movie Stand By Me where kids go looking for a dead body mixed up with the 1989 Lean On Me where Morgan Freeman plays a badass cleaning up an inner city school.

Given this, I will now assume that on your list you will replace this selection with the obvious choice for 1989 kids movie, The Wizard.  (It is actually 2nd on my list for all movies for 1989)

Motion Picture Rating (MPAA)
Rated R for a lot of action/violence and some language

Some of you have really pretentious favorite movie lists. Testy Westy's list is acceptable. Everyone else, not so much. I mean "Avatar"?  :barf:
Movies I can watch over and over again or that made a lasting impression:

1998: Shakespeare in Love; Sliding Doors;
1999: Office Space; The Green Mile; Sixth Sense; Three Kings; Ride with the Devil; Three to Tango
2000: Return to Me;
2001: Bridget Jones’ Diary; Life as a House;
2002: A Walk to Remember; About A Boy; Count of Monte Cristo;
2003: Love Actually; Old School; Holes; Uptown Girls; View from the Top;
2004: The Incredibles; Shaun of the Dead; Spanglish; Ella Enchanted;
2005: Hitch; Just Like Heaven;
2006: Inside Man; The Holiday; Idiocracy; The Lake House; 16 Blocks;
2007: P.S. I Love You; Juno; I Am Legend; Fracture; Paranormal Activity; 28 Weeks Later; Enchanted; 30 Days of Night; Music and Lyrics; Vacancy;
2008: Taken; Gran Torino; Hurt Locker; Yes Man; Eagle Eye; The Other Boleyn Girl;
2009: Inglorious Basterds; 500 Days of Summer; Zombieland; He’s Just Not That Into You;  Up In the Air;
2010: The Book of Eli; Hot Tub Time Machine; The Debt; Devil;
2011: The Help; Crazy, Stupid Love; Cabin in the Woods;
2012: I've only seen a few of the movies released last year. I liked "Zero Dark Thirty," but I don't think I would watch it over and over again.

I mean do we even live on the same planet?
Do yourself a favor and get over the "i dont know, that's weird" response you undoubtedly have with Wes Anderson

I don't even know who Wes Anderson is. Is he a K-State grad? And I get that you all probably don't like chick flicks, but not liking "Holes" or "The Help" or "Ride with the Devil?" That's on you, man. It's crazy talk.

I love "chick flicks" that are good. That's why I have Sleepless on my favorite list, and why I didn't highlight Crazy Stupid Love, PS I Love You, The Holiday, Music & Lyrics, and Love Actually. In fact that has nothing to do at all with what I said.

Someone's favorite movie from 1994 can tell you a lot about them. Shawshank, Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction were all up for Best Picture.

Just don't complain that everyone is too pretentious and then follow it up by posting movies like Hitch and saying you've never even heard of Wes Anderson and you should be good to go.  :D

"Hitch" is not pretentious. And in my defense, the movies that year were pretty meh. I couldn't just leave that year blank, could I? (And 1994, Shawshank. No question.)

Looking at the movie releases, 2005 was a pretty sub-par year, but Hitch was just a bad movie. I would probably go with Batman Begins or Sin City.
