Talk me out of thinking we're going to lose this game. Thank you.

Baylor lost to Iowa State.  What more do you need?

oscar's motion will dissect Drew's new man to man. Baylor has been fortunate in winning the 3PT defense lottery most of the Big 12 season and won't in Manhattan. Cats defense will be good enough against a pretty average offense. Control Jackson and don't let Heslip go off; Cats will be fine.

70-62.

I'm afraid Austin will pull Gip/JO away from the basket and they'll have early foul trouble.

Jefferson is much more of a concern to do this than Austin. Austin doesn't draw many fouls and only has a FT rate of 20.5%.

I agree.  The Jefferson/Gip match-up scares me in that Gip is already foul prone.  Austin hasn't been hitting shots from the outside with much consistency (in Big 12 play).  Pulling him away from the basket isn't that big of an issue.  Jackson will get his points, but containing Heslip will be important (Spradling will have to play some tough defense).  I think Baylor has no answer for McGruder.

I'm predicting 72-66.

I am anxious to see Drew's new devotion to man to man defense (instead of his 2-3 zone), I've only seen parts of Baylor games this year.

Border Patrol w/ Stan highlighted that Baylor has the #1 FG% defense in the BigXII.  K-State has the 3rd worst in XII.

Stan's take:  KSU has played KU and ISU twice.  Baylor has not.  Numbers should even out as KSU and Baylor complete their respective schedules.

Stan definitely has brought his positive K-State spin.

It is true that Baylor has 4 games against TCU/Tech and in those 4 games held them to 35%.

But, they also played OSU twice and held them to 37%.

And in 2 games against KU/ISU, held them to 43%.

Only OU (57%) has shot better than 50%.

(all eFG% above)

Guys, I was listening to Kevin Keitzman on Between the Lines, well, anyway, he said that even though a lot of people THINK KSU is good at defense we're not that good! This got me worried, he kept referencing a stat called "Field goal percentage defense" and how we are not good at that stat. And even worse? Baylor IS good at that stat.  :runaway:

I don't know guys...... I just don't know.

Also, Baylor's average eFG% allowed the previous 5 seasons has been 49% (before that they were pretty terrible).
Baylor's average PPP allowed was 1.06.

This year they are allowing 41% and 0.87.

Gipson and JO are going to combine for 30 pts, easy. We will score 70 and our defense will not give up 70 at home.

Unless Tweety Carter and Lace Dunn hit 3248354 threes again, Baylor will not win in Manhattan.

Will Spradling be manned up on Heslip? I see a Scot Christopherson'd in our future. :ohno:

Likely to start with. And if he can't handle it, Tay will play more; oscar made that move against ISU when McGee started hitting shots.

Here's a thought: we could just start w/ Tay, be better all around, and skip the crappy part where we "discover" that Sprads can't handle it. :dunno:

Cats win. By a whole bunch (or maybe not by that much, but still win). Southwell will be a boss, I can feel it.

The Angel - Jackson match-up is very interesting indeed.  I really think the Rod - Walton match-up will favor Rod (in a big way).  Austin is going to be a problem, but so will Shane on the offensive end.  I actually see a wash here.  The Gip/JO - Jefferson match-up is the one of concern.  Gip has got to stay out of foul trouble.  Gathers coming off the bench for Baylor also poses some problems for the post players.  We will have to play tough and smart.
