To be fair, baseball isn't fully funded, so any state with a large population base is going to have advantages because they have a larger pool of in-state players for whom in-state tuition can be paid (when you're on a quarter or a half of a scholarship, paying out of state tuition adds up real quick). To me, that is a much larger issue than the seasonality of north vs. south teams - if baseball was fully funded (20ish full scholarships) then that discrepancy would go away pretty fast.

That said, as others have pointed out, we need to drop the loser mentality and making NCAAs every other year or one out of every three years is completely attainable with a competent head coach (and, the same is true of every Olympic sport we have).

So how do you overcome being in the bottom quartile of state populations if that is the primary driver?

Eliminating (or significantly reducing) out of state tuition for nearby states is a good start (also obviously good for general student recruiting). We already have that in place for a number of states - bordering states, Texas, etc.

I think the key is not running off kids that can hit in favor of his kid that can't.

While TFS is certainly not the most impressive stadium in college baseball.  It’s still a nice facility.

The overall suite of player-admin-strength and conditioning-player development-nutrition that K-State has developed within 500 feet of TFS takes a backseat to very few.

Pretty good get for Hughes - this dude had an OPS above 1.000 this year and was above .900 last year. Strikes out a ton, but who doesn't these days.

Jokes on you, stone. Since 1953 all collegiate bats have been made of fiberglass. Good luck getting NCAABASEBALL out of the deep pockets of Big Fiberglass

Will Brennan is having a pretty good first full season with Cleveland.  He should earn a pretty nice contract after this year.

Nick Goodwin goes in the 7th Round to Toronto and Brady Day goes in the 12th to Atlanta. Would guess neither comes back next year. Maybe 1-2 more drafted.

Also, Kalen Culpepper is tearing it up with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team...

Andrew Evans is neighbors grand nephew.  Hoping he is in the mix for innings next year.

Wicks got called up by the Cubbies and will make his MLB debut as Chicago's SP tonight. Didn't think he'd get to the majors so fast - good for him.

Who wants more? This dude has the potential to be the best K-State MLB player ever (granted, not saying a ton there).

I'll be honest, when I see a tweet like that I expect the other 3 to have names like Lefty Malarkey, Wingfoot Adams, and Stubs McCracken.
