And both of Pete Hughes' last two coaching stops (OU & Va Tech) made it to Supers this year - a place Hughes has never been (nor will he ever go). But, I'm sure firing the pitching coach will fix everything...

possible that we hired him in order to then fire him because removing the absolute loser stench seems to pay dividends?

Hopefully only one more year of this clown show.

One could easily argue there is no accountability for any sport other than football and men's basketball (and women's basketball if you're going to make your players be jesus freaks).

Extending Hughes (and even giving him a raise) is absolutely astounding - especially considering the team that will take the field next yar is BY FAR the least talented team Hughes has had. He's 26-46 in Big 12 play in 3 years and it's probably going to be around 32-64 by the end of the 2023 season.

no, and imo gene just needs to be honest about the fact that the extension is due to factors that have nothing to do with previous on-field success

Yeah, I was hoping Gene would act like he cared now that he was new in town. My former coach and now scout for the Cardinals said when we hired this guy, that it was a good hire and he sent a lot of his HS kids to him. He hit me up today and asked wtf K-State is doing, sighting the guy hasn't been good for years and that he's lost his tough. Things change fast.
