Yeah, and maybe quit letting Wicks do his own scouting reports.

The guy is always around the zone, he's got a pretty good mix of pitches so he gets a lot of K's, but he's also right in guys wheel house a lot as well, at least in the last two starts he has been.   He doesn't do a good job of making guys chase bad pitches and he lets hitters stand right on top of the plate all game long.

Was at the game tonight. I don't follow college baseball at all but their starter was throwing pitches in the 60's before they pulled him. I have a nephew that has his eye on college ball that's in high school throwing mid-eighties. I like his chances if APB's pitcher is the norm.

It's not the norm. Are you sure he wasn't a junk ball pitcher?

low 80's to mid 80's might get you a cup of coffee at lower level colleges, unless you're a lefty, and then it could work at the D1 level. High 80's to the 90's is the norm for the D1 level.

what allows one person the ability to throw the ball 100 mph, and the next guy only 60 mph?
it’s not arm muscle.  is it all technique?  if so, why aren’t there a billion arm throw technique people churning out 100 mph pitchers 24/7?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Arkansas Pine-Bluff is an HCBU, it's possible that pitcher wasn't even on scholarship, and I can confidently say that if he does have a scholarship it isn't anything close to a full one.

I'm sure MiR knew this (because he's a minor sports encyclopedia) but this is interesting

I'm sure the article mentions this but the only reason a lot of these schools like UAPB even has baseball is to stay at the d1 minimum number of sports offerings. Bethune Cookman is absolutely one of the better HCBUs, if not the best, so they devote some resources to baseball, but most of them don't. This is probably going to change a bit because a lot of the MEAC schools, are being engulfed into other conferences, so they will have a bit more money to invest. UAPB is in the SWAC, and that conference will be around a while, but the MEAC is on borrowed time.

Arm muscle is definitely part of it. Forearm strength and wrist action is big.

But a simple answer is not everyone's body is the same. Some are simply built (length, core, hips/legs, etc) to throw harder and obviously the better the technique, someone can maximize their potential.

I'd love for the umpires to explain how 6 dudes got ejected for this when only 3 people even touched each other.

I also don't understand what Texas was upset about there. Baseball "brawls" are usually pretty dumb.
