It's the only major college sport that doesn't serve as the farm league for the pros. All other college sports should be that way, but the NFL and NBA are too cheap to make it happen. At least the NBA sort of tries.

Does baseball still follow the rule if you sign with a college out of high school it's a 3 year commitment before you're eligible for MLB draft again?

Yeah. All Juco players are eligible, though. Also anyone over age 21.

It's not quite as bad, but track is pretty silly as well. They get 12.6 scholarships for rosters that are usually 30-40 deep. But, they can go pro whenever they want.

My bro did both Cross Country and track in college, to enhance his scholarship. He's lucky he was distance.
