That's where the students tailgate.  It's not about where you park, it's about taking away from the students.  Screw the students tailgating at the biggest sporting events at a university, we don't want to keep our central place for all the students to gather.  It's not like the purpose of the university is them.

If there was a reason that we needed another building near the stadium, it would be different, but there is no reason to build that there.

This is a great thing for the progress of the university. Every sport should have something to their own. And besides, why are people complaining, at least this isn't Nebraska's campus, where every athletic venue is within one drunk guys pissing distance to each other.

I have thought, what if we dumped like 10mil into our rowing team to have like the dankest rowing squad in the country. We could probably win back to back team nattys, can't be too difficult to dominate a 'sport' like that.

Just an update: They put up the west wall which was abut 12' high over the last week and it appears that it BLEW/FELL OVER!
