I'm sorry, but if I can walk fewer than 5 minutes to get to the heart of the Financial District, then that hotel is in the Financial District.

Salesforce Tower isn't the heart of the financial district

would you see the same about a place 5 minutes from the tenderloin? no, you wouldn't

I'm sorry that I was busy being all up in dat Financial District ass while you were probably playing pick-up hoops in Chinatown.

Arguing about where the cutoff is for specific districts is very appropriate for this thread.

Thanks for the tips. There’s a Hilton there for $140 a night with a rooftop pool/bar that overlooks the Bay. I’m sure Napa will rape us and we’ll barely be at the hotel on that Sunday, so I think we’ll probably go that route. 10 minute Uber drive to the Chiefs bar.

That's basically Chinatown and North Beach! Good bars in North Beach

It's kind of a shitty area, though. Literally.

We just want to lay our heads somewhere. Uber seems cheap from everywhere from there, but I honestly don’t know. I’ve been one time and her aunt had us in some fancy place downtown where they had the wedding and eventually met Mich.

Pretty sure it was the Plaza! The Hilton will be fine.

worth noting that the Richmond has the reputation of having all the Chinese restaurants that Chinese folks eat at instead of Chinatown. Go get some good food while you're out there!

in the last couple of months i spent brief amounts of time in seattle and the bay area.  they both struck me as basically failed cities.  hard to understand how they've let themselves descend into such states.

In all seriousness was it drug use and homelessness or something else?

In all seriousness was it drug use and homelessness or something else?

definitely homeless everywhere was a big part.  plus ugly rundown buildings, poor maintenance of public and private buildings and lands, non-functional/poorly functioning public transit, traffic and at the same time everything was super expensive.

like how the eff can everything cost a million dollars but there's no money to pick up trash, clean a bathroom or staff a bart/amtrak office?  it's inexplicable.

just seemed like really shitty places to live.

SF is a very weird place! I think there are parts where it would definitely be worth the money and parts where it would not. But that's probably been the case there since the 60's
