Lol. Wooooow.

I would actually appreciate this, having spent time in SF.
I've never seen that but it's pretty common for coffee shops to need a code for the bathroom like everywhere, isn't it?

The app is insane to me because it's such a carpetbagger move.

The level (of) keebler cracker and gmo wheat toast fkery in these pictures is ridiculously pitiful,” wrote Refa One, a well-known activist and artist from West Oakland, in a Facebook post with the image of the mural. “I’m still processing the amount of thirsty accolades this work is receiving from Negropeans that have embraced defeat by the gentrifying colonizers hell bent on mascot iconography of a displaced BLACK people.”

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

In the colorfully phrased legal complaint, Daniher says Guinevere is a “pilfered and unlawful duplication” of her “tremendously cool” unicorn van, “down to the very same year, make and model," not to mention the "flowing locks of hair from the unicorn, the flashes of lightning, and a general outer space and mythological visual milieu." She also expressed her anger on her personal Instagram account.

Since we also discuss Silicon Valley things here, this is amazing.

taco belly
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I truly enjoy this sort of thing, because it allows me to think where in the hierarchy of first world problems this resides.  I have to say, it is very near the peak.

Thanks for posting cRusty

I'll probably read this.

Quote
Uncanny Valley? is a rare first-person glimpse into high-flying, reckless startup culture at a time of unchecked ambition, unregulated surveillance, wild fortune, and accelerating political power. With wit, candor, and warmth, Anna deftly charts the tech industry’s shift from self-appointed world savior to democracy-endangering liability, alongside a personal narrative of aspiration, ambivalence, and disillusionment.

https://twitter.com/annawiener/status/1195013532477054976

Took place in San Francisco, so pretty germane to the thread. Written more for beginners, not that insightful. Heavier on summary, lighter on quirky, detailed examples.

Brands are featured prominently, but she uses zero brand names. "Australian work boots," "The cat octopus company," etc. At times, trying to figure them out was the most enjoyable aspect of the book.

Some of her descriptions made me smile. Like, "we all showed up for the meeting in the board room, everyone dressed like they were ready to traverse a glacier."
