Ole Miss :horrorsurprise:

Just heard on the DP show: Big 12 signed 25 players in the ESPN 300 and Ole Miss signed 10 (and Alabama has 15)!

How is Ole Miss getting all these recruits?
They aren't stupid.

Lol. I live 30 mins from Ole Miss.

All the alum here are sure it has to deal with the $$$$.

You can't go from being a straight D student to all of the sudden getting straight A's.

They all look at me and laugh and say "We are going to ride it out till the NCAA comes and takes it away".

I forgot about the pattened GPC move of when someone posts something negative there are 3-4 people that simply respond with "pansy" or "crybaby" without actually address why the OP may/maynot have had a valid point.

Yes, just naturally assume that that all these DITR's are going to pan out, just naturally assume they'll find some guys to plug in the glaring holes, and pretend that 2004 to 2005 never happened . . . whip, place into bowl, chill for 2 hours, remove from fridge,  place "you think you know more than Snyder" cherry on top.

It's not even about stars anymore, it's about addressing needs, and closing out on guys.

We swung and missed at every JUCO linebacker and lost our plan B on signing day to effing Minnesota for the other guy we lost to Arkansas.

Just a complete failure by this coaching staff to land immediate impact players at need positions on defense in this class.  To rationalize it any other way is complete and total naivety.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Yep, just a couple of warm bodies at DT, a couple of no star guys.

You're the Big 12 champs, and now you'll spend the off season rummaging around trying to find a guy or two who didn't qualify elsewhere or some weird scenario to try and fill immediate needs.    Many of which turn out to be things like this once they're hanging around K-State: "Well my counselor said I only needed a C, but it turns out I really needed an A" or "Well, they said my classes couldn't transfer after all, so now I'll have to try the DII route and see what happens." . . . or "Nobody knows where he's at, he just disappeared".

Oh hey, hey guys, don't forget that 2004 class, one of the highest rated ones ever . . . yep, sound logic there, because the 2004 class was really highly rated and then didn't work out (because it turns we had a bunch of guys who couldn't get to campus), then by all means DO NOT ATTEMPT 8 rough ridin' years later to get good recruits who will make it to campus . . . just keep clinging to that 2004 class (and what were the Big 12 champs and a program who had been to 10 or 11 straight bowls doing relying so heavily on a singular recruiting class ONE year later anyway??).

Apparently you didn't read what I said earlier, then about 4 months later you get this more often than not, "Well, it turns out my math class couldn't transfer after all, so now I am trying to decide what I am going to do" or . . . "He hasn't been in classes for weeks".

I think they are confident a number of juco players will not be admitted at the schools with which they're signing, but this class finished with a fizzle.

The Big 12 Champs are recruiting so far out on the fringes, that they're hoping that kids don't qualify elsewhere . . . then once in Manhattan, "I think I am good, they're still checking though". . . . a few weeks later, "I am not really sure where I stand right now." . . . then a month or so later, "Well, my academic counselor at (insert JC name here) said I only needed 3 more credits in math, but it turns out I needed 6."

My personal favorite of all time is Clark from last year. He needed 1 online class that went from like Feb-July. In June we were scrambling to find an open scholly for Luc, but when we couldn't be went to Cincy. Come July we found out that Clark hadn't had any contact with his prof since April, quit mid-term, and never told anyone hoping the prof would just give him the C.

They forgot that even when this happened last year we mumped it up.

. . . and it was probably one of those deals that if Clark just contacts the prof a couple of times, and does a little busy work, he gets a C.  How does the coaching staff not know this is going on?   But, that's what happens when you recruit way out on the fringes like K-State does, and eventually it catches up to you.

The recruiting should not be this shitty unless there simply is a total disregard for it.  For a school that won the Big XII Championship, you have to simply not care, almost at all, at recruiting to achieve these kind of results.  Seriously, to win the Big XII and finish dead last in the rankings?  That's crazy.

Oh but you see, those ranking services don't know anything, and I agree . . . at some point, the "coach who we have" method catches up to you, it just naturally assumes that every other coach in the conference who recruits better is just a complete dumbass on gameday, and in game planning.

Everybody else just sells and lies, and K-State is "up front and honest".

The fallacy of the "we don't care about star rankings" talking point is that almost all of the JUCO players we targeted and recruited were highly rated players.  We just failed to land them.  That's not about purposely rejecting the recruiting services, that's just sucking at recruiting.

The money thing defies common sense, I doubt Ole Miss is the only school offering inducements, just like I'm sure they don't have the deepest pockets in the SEC. If they are beating Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Gerogia and Florida for recruits by paying them, they are going to get caught like tomorrow. Worth noting that the #1 recruit they signed already has a brother playing there.

Yeah, the people down here say he is the only 5* they can justify, only because of the brother thing. Everybody else was CREAM.

Really the only P&V I have is the tuck logic, again let's take 2004 and 2005 for example, those bad years were a failure of recruiting classes from 2 and 3 and 4 years prior.   We won the Big 12 in 2003, there should have been no reason why 2005 shouldn't have been a stellar year, we went 39-15 between 2000 and 2003.  If tuckville believes LHC Bill Snyder, and you won't know until 2 or 3 years down the line about your recruiting.   Than you'd have to say that 2001, 2002 and 2003 recruiting was pretty much a failure.   But they keep seizing upon the 2004 class.

Then top it off with the fact that the 3 most visible players on this years team were a Ron Prince recruit and two transfers.

ESPNU actually ranked our HS class 7th in the Big 12 but they had Boyd on the committed list.

I hope he comes. I have no doubt he'd eventually be on scholarship and be a Big 12 level DT. Ridiculously strong.

As a former college wrestler, I wouldn't pass up an offer to play football, anywhere.

I'm certain that he would earn a scholarship, as well. Very athletic kid, very strong. I never got the chance to watch him play football in high school, but he is an incredible wrestler.

Seiler will set the wrasslers straight.

Also, I think the situation where we hope kids don't qualify other places that end up here should get a different shirt designation....brown shirt?

2004 and 2005 happened.  This coach and his "system" of recruiting produced those two years IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A BIG 12 TITLE.

It will happen again before he retires.  I firmly believe that.

It's also not 1999 or 2004 in terms of what happens in this league.   Nobody sucks, except ku.

All the BS comparisons about how our highest rated classes didn't turn out 8 years ago, mean absolutely nothing today.   The league is almost completely different now, and the Southern schools are loaded with prolific offensive talent.   You can't whiff repeatedly on defensive guys.

Hold on, Baylor just scored again.
