what if i want to buy a ring, but don't know how?  not a diamond one, otherwise i would just read this thread.

as i see it, i have two main problems - 1.  figuring out where to buy the ring, and 2.  figuring out what size of ring to buy.  advise please, but no stupid answers like ask the recipient.

1.  It depends on what type of ring you want.  If it's supposed to be something special, you better go to a jewelry store.  They're all about the same.

2.  If the recipient has another ring that you can take, the jewelry store can tell you the size of it.  And if you end up buying a ring that isn't quite the right size, they can resize it or exchange it.

come on guys, if you're dating a girl for anything longer than fanning time you should know her size.

Just one of those little pieces of info every guy should know IMO.  Even walked past a jewelry store case and see something you know your S.O. will love?  Ever buy something random for them?  It helps with spontaneity.

plus it helps with the subterfuge and clandestine nature of buying and surprising with the ring.

Ms. SB wears very little jewelry so the subterfuge was very difficult.

Good luck, KCFD. She is going to love whatever you get because it is from you.

BTW, here's the engagement ring I got for XMAS. I took a pic of it on my hand when this thread was created, but didn't post it because  :sdeek: You guys were harsh about the other girl's hand.

Congratulations, KCFD. Very cool.

I'm pretty sure I pulled that exact same ring out of a claw machine game back in 96

Congratulations, WG. Although I can't imagine why you would marry someone who wears skinny jeans.

She's just marrying the guy who was talking about Mossainite earlier in this thread.
