what if i want to buy a ring, but don't know how?  not a diamond one, otherwise i would just read this thread.


as i see it, i have two main problems - 1.  figuring out where to buy the ring, and 2.  figuring out what size of ring to buy.  advise please, but no stupid answers like ask the recipient.

1.  It depends on what type of ring you want.  If it's supposed to be something special, you better go to a jewelry store.  They're all about the same.

2.  If the recipient has another ring that you can take, the jewelry store can tell you the size of it.  And if you end up buying a ring that isn't quite the right size, they can resize it or exchange it.

Just one of those little pieces of info every guy should know IMO.  Even walked past a jewelry store case and see something you know your S.O. will love?  Ever buy something random for them?  It helps with spontaneity.
