How long ago did you buy the ring? Most stores will allow you to return it for a full refund within a month, probably in case she says no.

That has to be the most awkward return ever. That both goes for the person returning the ring and the clerk/sales associate taking it back.

Bought it like 2.5 or 3 years ago. She said yes and wore it for a year and a half before we broke up

Oh man. Mrs. SB-to-be just asked me if I'm inviting any of my "message board friends" to our wedding. Told her the entire wedding party was going to be made up of goEMAW mods.

hahahahhahahaha I just love my sister to pieces and her fiance as well. Have thought of him as a brother the whole time the dated and am excited about having him as a brother in law. So when I saw this thread I thought I would share my joy with complete strangers. For what it's worth, the ring cost 10k  :gocho:

For all the haters, go eff yourself. (I know I opened her up for criticism when I posted the pic)

Other than being able to haggle, what are the other benefits of going to a jeweler? At least for the small guys, it seems like the AIG restrictions/hoops to jump through would make them cost more or whatever. Local jeweler guys from the last few years: were they cheap?

My local jeweler was able to match the price of the stone to online stuff.  I could give a crap if the band was even 50% cheaper online sine the stone was waaay more.  Also, bought in MO, had it couriered to KS for small fee to avoid sales tax.

There's also like free bla bla for life but honestly I think most places do that and would do it even if you weren't a customer but wanted you to be a customer.  They incur no additional costs by cleaning her ring or fixing a stone setting.

Also, for me I hate running around town comparing this and that.  So dealing locally and getting the price match saved time.

I think B&M places are probably loses their asses to online, so force them to compete directly.  But, also expect them to make some money.  If you don't take too much of their time though their share can be small.

Don't know what AIG haggles are.

moshiri in olathe is fairly reasonable.  my issue was that she wants a pretty unique ring so none of the online sites had anything like it, so that's why we went to a small local place that does custom work.
