i think its because if the bible were easy to follow and consistent then it wouldnt take very much faith to go all in on it. kind of like the constitution.

We aren't supposed to ignore it, obviously. It was rule of law at what point in time and shows the history and growth of God's chosen people. It is important to study our past, even the bad parts, so we can avoid making the same mistakes again.
