So, apparently the 10-month old that died in Wichita last night was the foster child of 2 men. Should be some crazy bigots getting amped up over this
Lots of questions about the relationship of the two males in the live press conference right now.
Link? How did the baby die?
It was a live press conference, so I just had the live feed.
Basically, a 28 yo male and 26 yo male are foster parents to these kids. The 28 yo brought the 10 month old and another kid home with him and forgot the 10 month old in the car. The 26 yo was out doing yard work and when he came inside he thought all the kids were downstairs...then 2 hours later they suddenly realized the 10 month old was missing and had been left in the car.
Lots of questions like, "Who exactly lives at the house?" "What was the relationship of the two males?"
Also reporters must not retain knowledge very well because they asked questions multiple times about all the kids that live there and their whereabouts after they had already been answered.
Well they charged the guy with first degree murder.
Is that typical for a case like this?
I think it varies a lot by case and location. there was on in California where they did not charge the father because they said he was fatigued and it was a mistake not intentional cruelty. That guy in Georgia who Googled children dying in hot cars before he killed his son has been charge with murder.
From what I've read, they say he committed child endangerment (a felony) and in commission of that felony a child died so he is charged with murder. Seems excessive to me since by all accounts this seems like a terrible accident, not intentional. He is also not allowed to talk to any witnesses, which includes all of his family.
