Leavitt would be great, IMO.
The cutoff for burn it down is Dimel, just like it was Brad in hoops. And Leavitt is below that. I'll start the football list when it's time.
Leavitt is really lower than Dimel??? I don't know and am just asking? They both seem pretty crappy and am surprised there is enough difference between the 2 to be pissed about one or the other getting the job.

Dimel, to me, offers a level of consistency that makes him acceptable. That and he has generally done really well with our offense. That said, I wouldn't be excited for him or have reason to believe he would succeed wildly. He would just be 80% of Bill without the legend (which is how we got Harper/Brown, imo).
Leavitt was pretty successful at USF, but was fired there. Opposing coaches would use the reason he was fired consistently against him in recruiting, not that they probably need any more of an edge. I don't think the success he had in the Big East is enough to take on that baggage. If he wanted to be a DC without any Head Coach in Waiting crap, I would be ok with it. Speaking of that though, Currie would absolutely never hire him anyways.
