This is for the idiots that don't understand what a top 50 power ranking is:
College Football 2013 Predictions: Better, Worse or the Same for Top 50 Teams By Carl Stine(Featured Columnist) on January 8, 2013 37,956 reads

7. Kansas State Wildcats (11-2)
Running back John Hubert will be back next season, as will receiver Tyler Lockett.
But the heart and soul of both the offense and defense are leaving.
Arthur Brown and Meshak Williams have been the stars of the defense and will be extremely difficult to replace.
On top of that, Collin Klein, who finished third in Heisman voting this season and has had a stellar collegiate career, will not be around to carry the offense.
The Big 12 is up for grabs this in 2013, and K-State is going to find some tough sledding.
Prediction: Worse

6. Texas A&M Aggies (11-2)
Here's the deal with Texas A&M:
Johnny Manziel will be back to try to defend his Heisman Trophy and become only the second player to win in consecutive seasons.
Receiver Mike Evans is a proven stud at the position and will be primed to put up big numbers as the primary target in this offense.
Other than that, things are looking a little slim.
All other starting receivers are gone, and the offensive line is going to have some gaping holes to fill.
Defensively, the team's two leading tacklers are gone, both of them from the linebacker position.
Kevin Sumlin's offense is going to be explosive again, and with a second year in the program, Manziel is going to be tough to beat.
But there are some serious questions, so for the time being, let's just assume that the Aggies will maintain with strong potential to trend up.
Prediction: Same

5. Stanford Cardinal (12-2)
It was a great year for the Cardinal, capped off with the team's Rose Bowl win.
Next year leaves some questions, however.
Running back Stepfan Taylor is leaving, and the leading returning rusher is quarterback Kevin Hogan, who only started part of this season for the Cardinal.
For an offense predicated on the rushing game, that could be a problem.
The middle of the defense is going to take a hit.
You can't just replace linebacker like Chase Thomas and tackle Terrence Stephens.
The Cardinal will have a good season in 2013, but it's doubtful they will have near as solid a season as they did in 2012.
Prediction: Worse

4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-0)
Yes, the Fighting Irish were dominated in the BCS title game, 42-14.
But head coach Brian Kelly is back, and the Irish are bringing plenty of talent as well.
Everett Golson is only going to continue to improve at quarterback, Louis Nix is coming back to anchor a stout defensive line and the secondary that was supposed to be a liability in 2012 should be a strength with guys returning from injury in 2013.
A perfect season is going to be tough to match, especially with Tyler Eifert and Manti Te'o gone, but there is still loads of talent in South Bend, and another BCS bowl appearance other than the title game might be in the cards.
I guess that would be considered a downgrade.
Prediction: Worse

3. Oregon Ducks (12-1)
This team is not slowing down at all in 2013.
The defense returns seven starters, and De'Anthony Thomas will take over full-time duties in the backfield.
Marcus Mariota will return for his encore season at quarterback, and with another year of experience under his belt, he is going to be scary good.
The Ducks just missed the Pac-12 title and national championship game in 2012 by virtue of a loss to Stanford.
Don't expect that again in 2013; whether Chip Kelly returns or not, this team is primed for a run at the national title.
Prediction: Better

2. Ohio State Buckeyes (12-0)
Buckeye fans are fired up about their perfect 2012 season and the prospect of repeating that feat in 2013.
But let's talk about that a bit.
All four of the Buckeye's starting defensive linemen are leaving, as are two starting linebackers and two more starters in the secondary.
That's a ton to replace on that side of the ball, even for an Urban Meyer-led team.
The offense will be fine; Braxton Miller is a magician with the ball, either on the ground or throwing it, and will be in Heisman discussions late into the season.
But that defense and the gaps in it really gives one pause.
The Big Ten is not loaded, however, and the Buckeyes face a ridiculously easy nonconference slate, which might be just enough for them to run the regular-season table again.
Prediction: Same

1. Alabama Crimson Tide (12-1)
The Alabama Crimson Tide finished the season as the best team in the nation.
And they could be better in 2013.
Quarterback A.J. McCarron announced in December that he would return for the 2013 season. He could change his mind, but for the time being, let's take it at face value.
Eddie Lacy has not yet declared his intentions, but if he stays, or even if he doesn't, the Tide will have one of the best backfields in the nation.
Defensively, the Tide lose little and have a wealth of talent returning.
The offensive line takes a hit, with Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack leaving for the NFL, but Nick Saban has been better than anyone at identifying talent and producing top-flight offensive lines.
The talk of a dynasty is getting sickening, but if some key guys return, the Tide will be right back in the national title game next season.

The fact that we ended the season ranked in the top ten should be enough to predict KSU to finish high.  It's not that hard, guys.  :gocho:

My ridiculously early college football top-25 for 2013: Alabama’s No. 1, followed by Oregon and Ohio State

Posted by Jon Wilner on January 9th, 2013 at 9:19 am | Categorized as Alabama football, Arizona football, Arizona State football, Big Ten football, Boise State football, Florida football, Football Rankings, Fresno State football, KSU football, Nebraska football, Notre Dame football, Ohio State football, Oklahoma football, Oregon football, Oregon State football, Pac-12 football, SEC football, Stanford football, Texas football, UCLA football, Uncategorized, USC football, Washington football

Will be updated, if necessary, following NFL Draft deadline … and again after spring practice … and again in August.

Also considered (in no particular order): Miami, Michigan, Wisconsin, Oregon State, San Jose State, USC, Tulsa, Rutgers, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Baylor, Arizona, UCF, BYU and Northern Illinois.

25. Washington: If not next season, with all the returning talent … when?

24. Oklahoma: Not sold on the Sooners. Not sold on the Sooners at all.

23. Vanderbilt: At this point in the projections, we’re dealing with teams that should win eight games, give or take. The Commodores fit that description.

22. Fresno State: The Bulldogs return the bulk of their starters from a team that won nine games and have one of the top coaches in the west (Tim DeRuyter).

21. Georgia Tech: The defense that contained USC (with USC’s help, of course) returns nearly intact for another shot at the ACC Coastal.

20. Boise State: QB Joe Southwick’s back, although I’m not sure it matters. The Broncos are a top-15/20 team regardless of who’s under center as long as Chris Petersen’s on the sideline.

19. Texas Christian: Could be a top-10 team, depending on the fate of suspended QB Casey Paschall.

18: UCLA: QB Brett Hundley returns after a superb freshman season. The team to beat in the Pac-12 South until proven otherwise.

17. Texas: After playing so many underclassmen in ’12, the Longhorns should see the benefits next season. If you’re looking for a darkhorse title contender, consider the Longhorns.

16. Florida State: Significant losses on the field and the sideline, along with the high probability of FSU losing a game (or two) it has no business losing.

15. Notre Dame: Manti Te’o departs, as does most of the overpowering offensive line. A return to the BCS is unlikely, but the Irish won’t slip back into irrelevance.

14. Northwestern: QB Kain Colter leads a veteran team that coalesced faster than anyone expected in ’12.

13. Oklahoma State: With 15 starters scheduled to return, OSU is the team to beat in the Big 12.

12. Texas A&M: The Aggies lose a load of talent on the lines and their top receivers. And nobody will underestimate them. But with Johnny Football, it seems, anything’s possible.

11. KSU: Hard to imagine the Wildcats not contending for the national title with Sams in the mix.

10. Florida: The Sugar Bowl clunker wasn’t indicative of UF’s play over the course of the ’12 season, and it won’t be indicative of UF’s play throughout ’13.

9. Nebraska: Should have no trouble scoring with QB Taylor Martinez and a bevy of veteran playmakers. If the defense is merely decent, the Huskers could return to the BCS.

8. South Carolina: Well-stocked on offense and in possession of the best defensive player in the nation: defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

7. Clemson: Hopkins, Watkins and Boyd: Sounds like a law firm, plays like a title contender.

6. Louisville: The Cardinals weren’t a one-year wonder, not with coach Charlie Strong and QB Teddy Bridgewater returning for ’13.

5. Stanford: More granite defense, more hit-and-miss offense … and more wins.

4. Georgia: Stud LB Jarvis Jones is off the the NFL, but QB Aaron Murray and a stellar set of playmakers return.

3. Ohio State: QB Braxton Miller leads a veteran offense (four returning starters up front) and what should be a solid, if not elite, defense.

2. Oregon: CK’s back, as are DAT and MM … all of which translates to another run at the NCG.

1. Alabama: The Tide returns the majority of its starting lineup, including QB AJ McCarron. No way to justify anyone else in the top spot.

More predictions for '13:

Big 12 Football: Way Too Early Big 12 Power Rankings for 2013By Lisa Horne(Pac-12 and Big 12 Lead Writer) on January 9, 2013 3,204 reads

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY
Sports 2012 was a great season for Big 12 football with the league sending nine teams to various bowls. The bowl results were disappointing but not unexpected. Kansas State couldn't keep up with Oregon's speed in the Fiesta Bowl, and Oklahoma got spanked by Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.
Still, for a conference that at one point two years ago was given its last rites, the conference has exceeded most football fans' expectations.
We've had some some coaching changes (Texas Tech coach head Tommy Tuberville to Cincinnati and Texas A&M offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury to Texas Tech) and some traditional powerhouses take some tumbles.
So how does 2013 look?
For many teams, it's not looking very good, but for others, it's time for some shock and awe.

No. 10: Kansas
Jamie Squire/Getty Images Kansas head coach Charlie Weis actually lost more games than his predecessor Turner Gill did in his final season—the Jayhawks went 1-11 last season while Gill's 2011 team went 2-10. That's not a great start.
But if you watched Jayhawks football last year, you noticed some positive changes—they weren't routed in every game and their defense, at times, completely overachieved.
This season we will see more wins but the Jayhawks won't be bowling.

No. 9: Iowa State
Jeff Zelevansky/Getty Images Every year Iowa State seems to pull off a few upsets and 2012 was no different: the Cyclones beat TCU 37-23.
Paul Rhoads is one of the most underrated coaches in the country, but this season will test his patience because his defense, the third-best scoring defense in the conference, will lose some fantastic athletes.
Linebackers A.J. Klein and Jake Knott, both All-Big-12 first teamers, will be leaving.
I'm sure Rhoads will reload like he always does, and I'm sure he'll surprise a few teams in the fall—I'm not so sure he'll go bowling but as usual, don't count his Cyclones out.

No. 8 Baylor
Cooper Neill/Getty Images Remember when we thought Baylor would have a disappointing season after Robert Griffin III was drafted by the Washington Redskins? The Baylor Bears beat the UCLA Bruins in the 2012 Holiday Bowl.
Of course, now we won't ever doubt head coach Art Briles again, but the talent he loses, just like the previous year's losses, cannot be ignored.
Quarterback Nick Florence, receivers Lanear Sampson and Terrance Williams, guard Cameron Kaufhold, and center Ivory Wade, are all gone from the offense.
What if Cyril Richardson leaves for the NFL draft? That's still officially unknown, but one report indicates that he is returning for his senior year.
If that's the case, then we'll give Baylor a decent shot at bowling in the post season so we don't look foolish for dismissing that reload button of which Briles has master control.

No. 7 Texas Tech
Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports Texas Tech was a nice surprise this year—especially on the defensive side—but the biggest surprise was then-head coach Tommy Tuberville bailing for Cincinnati. But that won't be the only loss by the Red Raiders.
The list is too long to mention every name, but some notable losses are quarterback Seth Doege and offensive lineman La'Adrian Waddle.
The Red Raiders' offense will be fun under Kingsbury—it was a blast to watch at Texas A&M—but he is a young coach with no experience in this capacity.
We'll call for a slightly down season, although—and this is a big although—Texas Tech only leaves the state of Texas three times (Kansas, West Virginia and Oklahoma) in the 2013 regular season.
That's incredible.

No. 6: West Virginia
Justin K. Aller/Getty Images Among the more notable losses: quarterback Geno Smith, receivers Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey and J.D. Woods, kicker Tyler Bitancurt and center Joe Madsen.
Breathe deep, Mountaineer fans, because 2013 is not going to be very magical. Respect for Dana Holgorsen aside, West Virginia went 7-6 with all of that talent.
The problem was its defense, and while it will get eventually fixed, the offense has to be totally rebuilt.
Six or seven wins seems like a big stretch but we'll give Holgorsen's genius an extra win just because.

No. 5: Oklahoma State
Ronald Martinez/Getty Images Oklahoma State looks like a monster on offense if running back Joseph Randle* decides to stay for his senior season. If Randle returns, then the Cowboys have a legitimate shot at strongly contending for the Big 12 crown.
The defense—specifically the front seven—gets a major hit on the line and at linebacker, but surprisingly, head coach Mike Gundy has reloaded every year without much fanfare so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, this year he only returned a handful of starters on the offense but still ended up with an 8-5 record.
Losing kicker/punter Quinn Sharp is bigger than some experts will admit.
*If Randle doesn't declare for the NFL draft then Oklahoma State moves to No. 2 in these Big 12 power rankings.

No. 4: Oklahoma
Justin K. Aller/Getty Images Well, this didn't turn out the way we originally thought it would. The Oklahoma Sooners finished the 2012 season going 10-3 and losing to the three best teams they faced: Kansas State, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M.
The losses on both sides of the ball are staggering, and that's why 2012 is a disappointment for so many reasons—it should have been Oklahoma's year.
Obviously, losing quarterback Landry Jones hurts, but so does losing Ben Habern, Demontre Hurst, Lane Johnson, Tony Jefferson, David King, and Kenny Stills. There are so many more losses yet 2013 won't be a bad season—it'll just be full of new faces.
Can Stoops work his magic and reload? Logic says no, but experience says yes. Nine wins seems like a challenging, yet not insurmountable goal.

No. 3: Kansas State
Doug Pensinger/Getty Images Quarterback and Heisman finalist Collin Klein is off to the NFL, and that alone is reason to downgrade this Kansas State team.
But only to No. 3? Yes, because Kansas State does all those Kansas State things that...well...you know...make LHC Bill Snyder a legend.
OK, so beside Klein, the Wildcats lose linebacker Arthur Brown, all four defensive line starters, kicker Anthony Cantele, and receiver Chris Harper. There are more losses but you get the drift here.
Normally, that would be grounds for hitting the panic button but Snyder hand selects talent at junior colleges—talent that usually has at least one or two years of experience—and then starts them right away. For a lot of his incoming players, there aren't a lot of bench-warming activities on their agenda.
This season will be tough, but we know better than to dismiss Kansas State as a Big 12 challenger. :bill:

No. 2: TCU
Christian Petersen/Getty Images Texas Christian is my surprise Big 12 team. What really solidified the Horned Frogs at No. 2 was cornerback Jason Verrett's decision to return for his senior year.
TCU could have the best defense in the Big 12 and Verrett is a big reason why. Defensive end Stansly Maponga is still a question mark on whether or not he'll return, but receiver Josh Boyce will not return. The loss of Boyce and senior Skye Dawson hurts on the offense but the defense looks great.
And defense wins championships. Look for TCU to take advantage of some other big boys' offensive losses and pull some upsets in challenging for the Big 12.

No. 1: Texas
Stacy Revere/Getty Images
Longhorn coach Mack Brown looked mighty angry at the end of the regular season, but he made it up to some down Texas fans when he and his team went to the Alamo Bowl and beat Oregon State 31-27.
The defense loses defensive end Alex Okafor and safety Kenny Vaccaro, but with some offseason tackling drills to get the rest of the defense back up to Texas standards, this team could challenge for the 2013 BCS Championship.
The offense loses receiver Marquise Goodwin. Other than that, Texas looks ready to roll and return to its rightful place at the top of the Big 12.
It's been awhile but welcome back.
