As far as I know, all he has to do is sign up. If he can't figure that out, I suggest the democrat party, or, preferably,  abstention from the process altogether.

it's difficult for a smart person to sign up for republican stances on gay marriage, climate change, and gun control, yet these things define the gop. and that's before you get to the tea party.

That's weird, all the really stupid people I know vote solely on those exact issues and abortion.

I would think it would be really hard to be a democrat as well, since they vote exactly the same as Republicans on those issues.
