It's a bad time to be rebuilding in the Big 12.

No QB to replace Reesing, plus a couple bad hires have really mumped our football program beyond belief.  I always remind myself, though, that K-State was the worst football program in Division 1 football up until Snyder took over.  If K-State can do it, anyone can.

True.  ku was not that far behind us in being among the worst programs.  K-State is not stuck there, ku is.

Same amount of talent or maybe even more than us.

I think Weis accomplished a lot this year.  They were in games with a chance to win (OSU, Tech, Texas) that they had no chance in last year.  If he can start getting some Juco guys and get an average QB, I could see them getting back to 6-6 (obviously 3 of those wins before Big 12 play).

KU just won a BCS Bowl five years ago.  The program just needs the right coach, just like any other program outside of the elites.

Really not that different outside of Klein, Brown, and a few others.  Look at the recruiting classes.

Anyone can turn around.  Anyone.  And anyone can become pud super fast.  The difference is that the elites (Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, etc. etc.) don't stay down long and the traditional stinkers have a very hard time staying good.

Agreed.  And the biggest difference between K-State and KU is that K-State has had their best, perfect fit coach for 20+ years, while KU only had ours (Mangino) for about 8 (and only 3-4 of those years were good).

Sorry Beems . . . $5.3 million dollar operational loss for ku footbal in FY 2012, and ku finished last in conference in total Net Revenue in FY 2012.

Cheyenne Zulu is having to find a lot of extra money elsewhere to make up for the shortfall.

History shows again and again, that dire times require K-State alums . . . University of Colorado, Westar etc. etc. are living proof of that.

You'll be okay.

i really enjoy the 2 fundemental opinons on kansas state football at the phog.

1) k-state and ku are equal in talent so the difference in 1-11 and 11-1 is only coaching and snyder is the best ever.

2) snyder is overrated because he's never won a NC

The plans are already in the works for a track complex that will be able to host NCAA championships.  They're just trying to decide where to build it.  Also, with $28 million a year from the new Big 12 contract, every school in the Big 12 is going to make money.  Our basketball program generates top 5 revenue for college hoops, and the rest of the athletic department is doing well outside of football.  Not worried at all about the direction that Zenger has us headed.

1.  No one thinks KU and K-State are equal in talent.  Quit making these strawmen arguments.  Can you really look at K-State's team outside of Klein, Brown, Harper, Malone, and a few others, and say that the talent is just incredible?  No.  It's good, but it's not SEC level.  Snyder is an amazing coach.  He has an unparalleled ability to squeeze every last drop of talent out of his team.  You guys just need to accept that and move on.

2.  I disagree with anyone who tries to diminish Snyder's record.  He's one of the best ever.

I don't want to argue with you man . . . but anyone who pays any attention knows that the new complex is only happening because a lot of other entities are involved.   K-State Alum Cheyenne Zulu doesn't have $28 million burning a hole in his pocket right now.

Do you have ADD or something?  I have said multiple times that K-State has better talent than KU thanks to players like Klein, Brown, Harper, Malone, etc.  I just don't think the talent gap is that big outside of the top studs on K-State's roster.  KU actually has some good running backs and a few guys who can play too.  We put up rushing yards even when teams were expecting us to run.  QB play killed us along with weaknesses at receiver and on defense.

so he was wrong, happens a lot.

it is a bad time to rebuild in the b12, but i don't think that the "if KSU can do it, than anyone can" is appropriate, i would focus on a more recent example, that being ISU.
you can see KU's team has improved over last year, at least CW can put together a game plan and get his guys to play somewhat competitive, even if it's only for a half.  bring in a little more talent next year, get a little better, and so on.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

it's also  that beems seems to think having better talent than KU = having alabama talent.

Weis will get KU to where Iowa State is now, but have more talent on the roster. You should hope that KU's hire after Weis can use that talent more efficiently.

Guys, Ron Prince had a better record at K-State than KU's last two coaches combined.  I don't see change coming anytime soon.

this sounds great, but winning 3 conf games in this league will be a nightmare for them unless two other teams have major letdowns in the next 4 or so years.  i would expect them to win all their non-con games for the next few years, but when it comes to multiple conf wins, i just don't know where they are going to come from.  it's possible that no big12 coach will even be fired the next 4 years (unless you count mack retiring as being fired), really  :ohno: time for ku football fans.
