another little bit of elevator gossip i heard was that kone and otis are so backed up with north american orders that contractors aren't even bothering getting bids from them.  maybe explains amazon's decision to drop down to a schindler a little.

elevator bids annoy me.    I mean, just bid the rough ridin' specs man.  Quit trying to exclude half of it.

I have 4 otis elevators on my latest project. 2 are custom trauma elevators (for emergency department). They said they need about a year for an order like that.

Also, Krupp can eat crap.

one year doesn't seem like that long for a custom order.  also, i will need more elevator info like this.

typical low rise passenger elevator lead times are 10-18 weeks, so yeah, 52 is a stretch.

Dunno man, you throw some special materials in there, some VFD's, and a nuanced control scheme and you're looking at 40-48 weeks no problem.

It's not the manufacturing, it's the installers.

Also, I think Otis said it was 6-8 months. A year was probably a bit much.

Amazon says I signed up in 2002, but I didn't buy anything until nov 2003. So weird.
