frank never had the balls to berate players that he couldn't bully. the morehead coach seems like he will take on all comers. bill walker half assed 98% of his time at KSU and frank never raised his voice to him. why? he knew bill wouldn't have put up with his clown show.

Do you think it had anything to do with Bill being really, really talented? Like maybe Bill got treated better because he was better even though he loafed. Wasn't around so I can't say but, it happens all the time in real life SD. The best people can get away with a lot of a crap that the average ones can't. Maybe.

No, he constantly ripped Jake's ass. He was terrified of Bill. Probably had to do with Bill flipping his crap when Bob Huggins told the team he was leaving. Never yelled at referees either. Really only lost his crap at smaller or weaker willed players. case in point being Will Spradling, the smallest and weakest willed player to ever wear the uniform. Frank told him he hoped his house burned down with him in it. he pulls that crap with bill walker and he gets choked the eff out in front of god and everyone. pretty smart to keep his mouth shut really. and I'm very pro-flipping-your-crap at players. it was used successfully by frank for the most part.

Perhaps rather than physically fearing Bill, he felt that if he gave Bill the treatment Bill would be all gtfoomf and quit the team. Get on Bill and Bill walks as opposed to get on Bill and Bill beats me up. Usually guys that are loafy and half assy are not good fighters either. I get that Bill is a large human being, but some of those NBA fights...woof. My intuition tells me Frank didn't physically fear Bill Walker, he feared Bill quitting on him and wrecking his first season at the helm. Calculated tyranny vs. stereotypical bullying.

Bill was the coolest guy in school, and frank just wanted stay in his good graces. Dude ate popcorn on the bench and pissed in towels courtside. Frank never even gave him a scowl. I'm not sure if Frank was scared of him, as much as he'd just had a massive crush on him. I mean...who didn't? Fwiw, bill walker would have definitely beat the living eff out of Frank Martin if he ever tried that crap. Would've been great tv.

Bill and Beasley got Frank his job and that's why he never berated them. (Well, that and Mike never made a single mistake at Kansas State.)

He's berated every player about equally since then if they deserved it.

I'm still amazed the Frank/Merriweather thing didn't result in a bigger shitstorm. Easily could have gotten Martin fired if the media had felt like it.
