I've been into a walmart before, and I don't think those employees would be difficult to replace within 24 hours. None of them knew where the item I was looking for was anyway.

I agree that it's dumb to waste time picketing in front of Wal-Mart, but if I were working there and somebody told me I had to come in on Thanksgiving and open the store at 8:00 pm and work until early the next morning to earn about $50, there is no way in hell I'm coming in. I probably just work up until Thanksgiving and plan a job search. That said, if the strike works out, maybe nobody gets fired and they all get a $1 per hour raise? That would be good for us taxpayers, who have to support the millions of impoverished Wal-Mart workers on food stamps, Medicaid, etc.

i worked at walmart for over a year during college. it sucked. they were always telling us not to get in a union or some crap.

Whether the strike worked or not is irrelevant. The important thing is that the participants were able to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with their families. Why would they care if they lose their shitty jobs? It's not that hard to find another menial, low-paying job.

Glad some got to enjoy Thanksgiving with their families and think it is bullshit that they opened on Thanksgiving in the first place.  That being said, maybe they should get a job where they didn't agree to work holidays instead of getting a job that does the opposite and demand that it be the other way? 

I have also decided to start a Union.  It is going to be "We want things that are opposite of the job we signed up for" Local 1234567.  My salary is going to be 375k with benefits and I am going to represent my peoples by making they carry signs in front of their jobs demanding things that employers should offer them, but don't have to.

I guess I misread the story then. I didn't know a bunch of workers quit right before thanksgiving because they were unhappy.
