Guys...
I was pessimistic as anyone, and really still am, but if 2 losses is all it takes along with us winning easy, it's possible.

I mean, I think FSU could easily beat UF. ND losing is a longshot though. I think we'd jump UO if we beat UT big because we'd gain a lot in human polls coupled with computer help, then we jump ND and UF because they lose. UGA or Bama lose in the championship game and all of a sudden, we're #2.

As long as we're banning kim carnes:
Probably lose @WVU and @baylor or @ISU.  It's gonna be a bloodbath at the top with a bunch of 2 loss teams.  Might come down to who got beat by whom.

yeah, those are the teams we're going to lose to  :flush:

Making the championship game is just as much of a possibility now as it was at any time before, and maybe even moreso.  If your intuition tells you otherwise, you're not grasping how unlikely it is to go undefeated.

We're one spot behind them now in the BCS when we're like 4 spots behind them in the human polls. We would gain A LOT if we can win impressively enough to be 1 spot behind them in the human polls. It would be the same scenario it was last week. We'd have enough computer help to jump them 1 spot in the BCS.

We're reeeally far behind Oregon. We'd need them to lose too probably.

No we wouldn't.  That computer lead is all but gone.  Prior to last week, we were 2.5 spots ahead (.970 to .870) of them in the computer ranking points.  Right now we are only 1 ahead (.840 to .800).  Also, their opponent this weekend is 1.5 spots ahead of our opponent (.550 to .490), so they will probably cut into our 1 spot computer poll lead.

When/if Oregon does not make it to the Pac 12 title game how will that impact the human polls?  I'm guessing a talking point around the country will be "they didn't even play for the championship of their own conference, how can they play for the BCS title"

If Notre Dame loses to USC in LA...

If Florida loses to Florida State in Tallahassee...

If Oregon loses again...

If we beat Texas by a couple of TD's...

Florida State is not a threat.  Their computer rankings are beyond awful (currently #17).  Beating Florida and Georgia Tech won't catapult them.

If we can just get to third or fourth in the human polls again, the computers will take care of the rest if we beat Texas.

That's a good thing. Let's say we get lucky and some kind scenarios out of our control happen in our favor. At that point, we can run the score up as much as possible if we're in position to. If we have no chance after this weekend, we just try to win.

I started to calculate this, but then realized Florida and Florida State are ahead of us in both polls and play eachother this weekend.  We aren't passing the winner of that.  The only way we pass the winner by the final poll is if Florida State beats Florida, then lost to GaTech in the ACC championship.  Too many assumptions to try and calculate anything meaningful here because there would be large computer impacts as well.

However, if you just went straight - Oregon 1 spot ahead on every ballot in both human polls and KSU 1 spot ahead in computer average, Oregon would be ahead by .013 in the BCS.

I would think the computer is still going to drag FSU way down even if they win. What are they 9 in the BCS? I don't think 1 win will shoot them up super far.

This is all so very confusing. Oh well, K-State gets the Dr. Pepper and I'll be loving the crap out of this season. If we somehow have the cards fall right for us to get back into the NC picture, the eff Yea, Merica, etc.

What will probably happen is that everyone we need to lose will lose, but UGA will beat Bama by a field goal or less and the voters will find some way to rationalize a MNC rematch between the two.
