If Notre Dame and Florida both lose next week, then either Oregon or Kansas State could sneak back into the title game to face the SEC champion.

It would be Oregon

Oregon's losing again.  Probably next week.

If we think our injuries are bad, theirs are way worse.

This would actually be a very interesting debate. A one loss Oregon team who didn't even win their conference vs. a one loss K-State team that won the 2nd best conference playing a round robin schedule.

Don't think it would be mathematically possible to catch Oregon without them losing to Oregon State. They have a huge lead.

5) Oregon .8318
6) K-State .7692

How far would Notre Dame drop losing to a Barkley-less 7-4 USC team?

If we dismantle Texas, we could gain a lot in human polls.

Even if Oregon gets by OSU, they'd still need to get by UCLA.

Also, Florida State can't jump K-State enough, right? Their computer rating will hold them back?

What? Oregon doesn't play UCLA this year.

And no, FSU would never jump us.

This is only if UCLA beats Stanford this weekend.  If Stanford wins, Oregon sits out the conference championship game as Stanford and UCLA have a rematch.

The CCG... but Hamburglar just explained it

EDIT: Does that mean if Stanford beat UCLA this weekend, they'll face them in a re-match at Stanford next week?

Every other #7 throughout the years at this point in the season has NOT made the championship though, right?

Honestly, eff Alabama.

We only have ourselves (and Oregon) to blame for them being forgiven for losing at home to Aggie :frown:

Florida is the biggest fraud of them all.

I'm all for giving Alabama a bit of an edge based on recent history, but it's like they're the new Notre Dame and people just can't wait to get them to the top of the polls as fast as possible.

If we waxed UT, how much would we jump in the polls? Maybe to 5 or 6 (assuming nobody lost ahead of us)?

If so, would we jump ahead of UO in the BCS?

I don't think we have any realistic shot of getting back in, but at the same time, it could be interesting if we win big. We may only need like a couple key losses at that point.

We need Oregon, Notre Dame, and Florida to all lose. We might even need FSU to drop a game if they start getting 1st place votes.

See, I'm not sure we need Oregon to lose. That's why I was curious to see how much of a BCS jump we would get if we go to 5 or 6 (or rather one behind UO if other teams ahead lose) in the human polls. That might be enough to jump UO with the computer help. In theory, if ND and UF lose, we wax UT, that may be all it takes since one other SEC team goes down in the champ game.

I think the computer will nail FSU too much for them to matter.
