I'm sort of torn on this because I'm not sure if the people of Puerto Rico want this overwhelmingly enough. Once they are a state, there is no going back. It just seems like that sort of thing should require a two thirds vote. :dunno:

someone explain to me how they would be treated differently and junk from their current territory or whatever status. I'm not really up to speed on this stuff at all.

essentially, they would get to vote and get more government funds but they would have to pay federal income and corporate taxes.

Can you imagine what the Tea-Partiers / blowhard Repubs would say when Puerto Rico comes up for statehood and they find out that around 95% of Puerto Ricans speak Spanish and around 80% speak English "less than very well"?  :sdeek:
