Angel is at worst the 2nd best PG in the conference and the same could be said for JO at center.  Add in a bunch of guys with Big 12 size and/or athleticism and a upper half finish should not be too much to ask.

i mean half of the team was getting ready to leave if frank stayed, right? why would they quit on the new guy that they all stuck around for and love so much? that makes no sense. let me know if you have anymore brain busters though.

I'm not trying to be funny.  Fact is that oscar's crap teams in Illinois were more talented on paper than this KSU '12-'13 team.    Yet, we're convinced that this year we'll be really good, completely convinced that these players are immune to the pussified, chicken nuggets-faced, nice guy culture brough in by oscar.  Why are we convinced that we won't lose several close ball games, and piss down our legs to go 19-15.

Because aside from Rodney, we're not an incredibly talented team.

Because the Big 12 is a football conference. 3 ranked teams. None in the top 10.  Texas just go stomped by Chaminade. Huggins got stomped by Gonzaga. We get to play all these crappy teams twice.

an upper half finish in a down BigXII isn't "pretty darn good" by my estimation.

Also, I really like Angel, but at this point, I'd say he's about the 3rd - 4th best PG in the BigXII behind Pierre Jackson, Elijah Johnson, and maybe Marcus Smart.  JO is probably the 2nd best C behind Withey.

I would take Angel and Rod over any player on Illinois' team last year, and I'd probably take JO over everyone except perhaps Myers Leonard.

I figured half the team was ready to quit because they were complete pussies and couldn't handle the pressure (i.e. Spradling).  So why do we think these guys will now shed their pussyness and play like men in Conference play, resulting in a pretty darn good season.

If I were a betting man, I'd predict that the chicken nuggets effect will have fully permeated this locker room by February, at which point we'll be in free-fall mode.

If this doesn't happen, though, I'll be really confused.  There's always next season though.  or the season after that.  i mean, eventually, we'll have a team that sucks.  and, oh man, when that happens...

Relief re-engergizes.  They will scrap for oscar this year because he isn't frank.

When you have a frank removed from your shoulders, you feel like a new man.  A new man that will then turn and play hard for the new guy for a short time before you realize that you're never going to become the DI PG that your bad person dad demanded and that all the coaching changes in the world won't change that.  Then, you will slump again either for good, or until the next John Currie appointed Basketball Jesus comes along with a good enough sales pitch to help you believe that the last two guys were both inept monsters that misused you and your talent and how you will be a star soon.

Why does Frank not get credit for Rod?  Te could of left after 08 if he had wanted.

If AB3 or Chet finds a great player due to prior personal connections Weber will get credit for having them on the staff?

All those guys are comparable to the 4th and 5th starters and bench players on the 2011-12 Illinois team.

Man, the oscar haters come on with the preemptive "if we win oscar gets no credit" and the oscar defenders fire back with "if he sucks, how do we win?" And I'm all "nom nom nom" on popcorn

I think everyone thought we'd be pretty good this year. I don't anyone would have predicted that we could beat a team by 61 a night after they beat North Texas, a team with an NBA lottery pick playing for them.

i'm intrigued by what will become of Mr Bread if oscar succeeds here. Will be amazing to watch.

mr. bread plays the long game, i doubt he'll even blink.

players matter way more than coaches.  ar-t is really good, and could turn out to be great.  there is no reasonable path open for weber to fail until ar-t leaves.

Jesus, last year there was a mile long thread debating whether Angel should start, now if oscar succeeds it will only last until he fails, and if he fails, we told you so.  If I could buy you jaggoffs for what you're worth and sell you for what you think you're worth I would be one rich sumbitch.
it’s not like I’m tired of WINNING, but dude, let me catch my breath.

the ceiling for this team is the round of 32.  That was as far as we got last year and we were being coached by one of the best in the game.
