I don't think an Orris/DJamer class is any better than those classes.

True... but it has to be pretty tough to recruit kids to one school, get fired, and then still get them at your next school.

I do think DJamer could be pretty good... looking forward to seeing him play.
According to Dax, a dead person could do it.

Neither do I, and I wasn't rambling.   Apparently you can't handle anything beyond 1.5 sentences 'ite.

Dax I refer to this quotation:

"You can rub one out all day long and twice on Sunday in regards to Gottlieb or Pearl.  But in terms of guys like Doug, if those kinds of hires go South, they typically not only go off the road, they go through the ditch, into the woods, explode and nobody finds the burnt out wreck for 20 years.   Very few, well, likely NO major conference school AD and President is going to take that chance. '

What examples , facts , stories, would support your assertion regards Gottlieb running us to the ditch, to me he was low low risk, very high reward potential.  Currie did not even go through the charade of an interview.

Close... 2.5 sentences. This one was within my limit. And try to keep the fog index < 8. tia

It will definitely learn from the experience and not restate the exact same arguments again and again for the next several years.

7 foot project academic rejects were not what we needed.

i like the part where dax implies that there's a living, breathing human being that wouldn't be admitted to kstate.

We should have rehired Jim Wooldridge

Well I have to admit that this is a tough one.   I can't find any examples of a guy who was pulled from behind the mic at ESPN (or anywhere else) whose playing days had ended 10 years prior in Israel, and whose entire coaching resume consisted of an assistant coaching gig in the Macabiah Games . . . who was installed as the head coach of a major college basketball program.

I really would have enjoyed Doug myself, but I understand the absurdity of saying hiring him would be "low, low, low" risk.

Really about the only guy who I can find so far that came close to Gottlieb was Hoiberg, and upon review, seeing how Hoiberg absolutely owned Frank this past season, and how in 2 years Hoiberg and ISU surpassed Frank and K-State.   Hmm . . . that Gottlieb hire looks better and better.   (Holy Crap, I forgot The Mayor was an eyelash away from being 3-1 vs Frank and K-State).

or quit pretending we're a bunch of coach evaluating savants

if that means I'm not allowed to think Weber was a garbage hire than I'd rather have Wooldridge.

I am not so sure of that.   It's nice to get clarity.  It's lucky that we decided not to pretend to be coaching savants now though, if we had decided that last November we would have lost out on a lot of good BBS'n.

I recall defending and melting down about Snyder II depending on my mood.   I seem to remember a significant number of contributers in this thread were quite butthurt about Snyder coming back.

After looking at Fred H. is doing at ISU, multiple top 125 recruits in 2 full recruiting years, including 2 Top 100's this year, a couple of solid Juco gets, and several others with a pretty strong list of offers.

If Gottlieb could emulate that and parlay it into Top 3 conference finishes than

Maybe we're being set up for a Pearl/Gottlieb 2009 Maccabi Games reunion in Manhattan in a year or two?   Oh man oh man.

We were absolutely wrong about Snyder.  Epicly wrong.  So there's that I guess.

i think we decided last week that as long as oscar is the coach that there is no such thing as good bbs'n.

meh. we were partly pissed about the patterson thing and thrown off our game that snyder was all "i'm just coming back cause i was talked into it and don't plan on staying long". also, i personally didn't really meltdown about it. kept my season tickets, went to the games. thought it could've been much, much worse.

I melted down about Carlos Completion Percentage Valdez and Cosh (2010 especially) but _FAN and others cured me of the first part and the 2nd I'm still not convinced whether it was coaching, personnel, or both.

But yeah I just really, really hope we can somehow win a ton and we'll all look back on this and laugh while gushing over oscar's latest dorkisms at the Final Four press conference. I've already made it clear as to whether I think that'll happen or not.
