Why West Virginia ended up in the Big XII
« on: October 18, 2012, 08:53:15 AM »
Way back in the day, the Big East was a top conference. Go get yer daddy down off his combine and he'll tell you it's true. Then the ACC came along and said, "We suck balls," which VTech, Miama, and Boston College took literally and they went off to learn a hard lesson in word play. Time passed. The ACC continued to suck balls so they came back and took football powerhouses Pitt and 'Cuse. They didn't take WV for academic reasons and because deep down they actually do enjoy a vigorous ball sucking from time to time. It's for the best. The ACC is for basketball and field hockey.

Geographically it would have made a lot of sense for WV to go to the Big10 or the SEC. It turns out that WV is too good at football to play in the Big10. They are only interesting in collecting washed up diva teams like Nebraska or ND. The SEC like WV but everyone wants to play in the SEC. Plus, the WV stereotype is already well represented in the league by teams like Arkansas and anyone from Mississippi. In the end it was better for everyone to take a couple chowder puff teams that wouldn't upset the proverbial apple cart.

That brings us to the Big XII. Clearly academics aren't an issue. Math is obviously not a priority  in a league that features n < 12 teams but "Places people only fly over conference" gets a little wordy. Plus WV can compete with curriculum like "How not to fall off heavy farm equipment" and "Candles make the dark go bye bye".

The Big XII, like every other conference, wants to be the SEC. Redneck schools play good football. Who knew? So the best thing for the Big XII to do was to go out and get their own redneck football team. Congratulations on that.

It's all going to be moot with Oklahoma and Texas join the Pac 12 (see how they changed their name with the number of teams? savvy). I'm also assuming that UT and OU will move their campuses to SoCal because really, who wants to exist in either of those places?

Anyway, WV is now in the Big XII. You're welcome. We're going to do our best to de-turd the mess that you guys found yourself in. Wish us luck.

And we can all thank your daddy for our nations regular bowel movements. Go corn! You guys are corn right? Or is it tornadoes? I get very confused by the midwest. Pardon my ignorance.

I was under the impression that this was a place that could handle a little back-and-forth. Was I wrong? Are all your heavy hitters still out milking the cows?

Great questions!  We mostly grow cows or something like that.  Not really sure.  KSU grads don't really get their hands dirty...lot's of commodity traders and such.  Now that I think about it,  I have no idea what is grown in Kansas. KU fans "wave the wheat" after touchdowns and during basketball games, so wheat I guess?  Better ask a KU fan, they seem way more into that sort of thing.

We only have football related discussions with very intelligent people.  There is no way that we would ever deal in satire or joke about peoples lively hoods.  Not our style   :blank:

I didn't read this thread, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew that it's a recognizable fact that the only reason that Western Virginia is in this conference is because of University President and friend of goEMAW.com, @kstate_pres

That was either a genius statement or unintentionally awesome. A person selling produce on the side of the road could technically classify as a "commodity trader" arguably on a micro-economic scale. Either way

If someone could help me with my stereotypes I think I would be much more effective at this. The whole world knows of WV and its rich legacy of stereotypes. This is going to get boring quickly if I can't find something other than corn and wind blowing over corn.

This is a joke, right? There's about 8 million pages of posts discussing the stain that comes from playing in Morgantown and talk of how thin-skinned we are and how violent and uneducated we are. My skin is just fine. Be not afraid, engage.

The conversion rate from Company Script to USD has really taken a hit in the past 20 years.

Well Timmy (you don't mind if I call you Timmy do you? If we're going to be friends you should have a name). I'm not, as you say, "a poor". I'm not sure if you're trying to commiserate with me financially or if you think building a strawman (not a literal one) constitutes the height of wit. Perhaps your next response should be something along the lines of "Do you still sleep with your sister?"

Is this helping? I used to tutor kids long ago and far away and some liked the help and some wanted to figure it out on their own.

It seems that the inbreds of Western Virginia Technical College have some sort of inferiority complex when it comes to the University of Pittsburgh.

Perhaps they are projecting that upon us somehow?

Shouldn't farmpitt be a KSU poster?  That's like someone from here registering on a WVU forum with the name CoalAggie. Makes no sense.

Seems like quite the label to give us when we barely know each other at this point.

Premature?   :dunno:

What does "farmpitt" mean?

We used to have a rivalry with Pitt. They are about to move to the ACC and we're where we are now. That rivalry is dead. Someone, not me, christened you guys as "farmpitt" on another board. I feel weird explaining this but KU = farm and rival = Pitt. Let's be super clear though. At best we would test-drive a rivalry with you guys. We're probably more interested in a relationship with UT or OU. It's nothing personal, you seem like you have a great personality and all.

Wow, this has gotten awkward. Hey, I think I gotta go check something out over...there. I'll be right back.

Good lord I had forgotten what a huge joke the Big East was.

I know right?  I mean the ACC was (and still is lol) total garbage, but they came in and took far and away the Big East's best teams.  That's like a guy with a raging case of Down's stealing your wife away.  A guy with Down's took Western Virginia's wife!  Worst part is that she's been banging the Down's guy for years behind Western Virginia's back and all their kids are actually his (Western Virginia is sterile on account of all the coal dust inhalation and poor nutrition), but Western Virginia is still going to raise them.  No prohibition on retardeds in the mines. :shakesfist:
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.
