WVU's rush defense is ranked #43 nationally, giving up 3.26ypc, ISU's rush defense is ranked #36, giving up 3.36. We ran for 3.4ypc against ISU.  Worries? Thoughts?

where he broke down the rushing offenses they've faced. I'm worried about a lot of things in this game but our running the ball on them isn't one of them.

If ISU's rush defense is better than WVU's, I'm not worried.  We rushed for nearly 200 yards and held the ball for 41 minutes.  If we're in the same ballpark against WVU, we've got a great shot to win.

Yeah, I'm sure he will play. Hopefully he's not 100% and his timing is off after sitting out of practice for most of the week.

Another thing that pads WVU's rush D numbers is the fact that every team they've faced has thrown for roughly 500 yards on them.  They are 117th in yards per game and 122nd in passing D.

This is kind of my take.  Who is running on them?  My guess: teams that have 3rd and 3 or less.  And those teams are picking it up.  Then right back to chucking it down the field on their terrible defense.

Why am I not worried about WV:  The D-Coord is clearly a dipshit.  Snyder will destroy-scheme that idiot.  A couple of stops and we're good.

We should be more concerned with defending the pass, something TTU is much much better than us at doing. (4.82 ypa vs 6.56 ypa)

Geno is about to throw his first pick(s) of the year, much like RG3 last year.

WVU will move the ball, but as long as we stop the big play, they are going to have trouble scoring if they cannot run. They don't kick field goals and punt if they are even near midfield, so this thing could get out of hand early if we catch a few breaks.

Further to this, I believe that the number of sacks by the WVU defense is higher than normal with the number of passes their opponents attempt. WVU has 90+ sack yards. Doesn't that count against yards per carry?

Yes.  In college, sacks are recorded as negative rushing yards.  In the NFL, sacks are negative passing yards.

So, if teams weren't passing so damn often against WVU, they'd be running more and increasing the YPC. For what it's worth, in spite of how much teams pass against them, WVU is only averaging 2.5 sacks/game. (KSU is averaging 2.33/game)
